To my understanding, it's equal chances that it can be any of the following metals when it's fully identified and still says metal:  (iron, tin, lead, gold, silver, copper, or zinc)   so 1/7 chances that it'll be iron.

on iron more chances, imho if you collect a character with low restovrating skill even more chances to get iron.
