Random Crashs - Bad Window

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

playing currently on a Fedora 35 system and having especially with running multiple accounts lots of issues due to random crashs. Sometimes suddenly the game client is closed without any specific reason I could narrow down. Seems to get worse when doing tabbing between the clients. I run the launcher from the console and get the following:

Reason for the crash seems to be this BadWindow from the Xorg. I tried to narrow it down, but running out of idea. So I welcome every help to fix this nasty problem. Any ideas to fix it or provide more information on debug it?

To be honest I don't have a great deal of experience with Fedora, but what version of Java are you running?  That's been the cause of my pain every time I've had similar issues (Xubuntu here).

just googling the error/s shows misconfigured Xorg, and/or video driver

Hm, did I miss something? I thought the wurm launcher is now handling the java version and downloading them as well? At least within my wurm folder there is a java version and it seems not to use the one from the system. The one from Wurm is:

Quote

java version "1.8.0_211"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_211-b12)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.211-b12, mixed mode)

Not necessarily. From my experience it is often caused by a hidden software bug. Xorg is vanilla configuration, so nothing special about it. Driver is prop. NVIDIA that could be an issue, however I would expect then way more linux users having problems. I am also observing some memory leaks in Wurm and think that this might be related.

I don't have these issue with any other application not even with own written OpenGL applications using the same technology as wurm. When running a single instance of Wurm it just happens very rarely, when running three applications it difficult to keep them all running for something like 15 minutes. The problem is also not related by Fedora35 as I am suffering from this since a year now maybe at least.
