Mercenaries

Recommended Posts

In my opinion, we could use much more difficult normal mobs, but how do you add them without making harder or impossible gameplay for players who are not focused on combat?

The easiest method would be to add mercenaries that you can rely on more than pets.

A mercenary would be an NPC that we can arm with various types of weapons and armors and hire for money for a certain period of time.

First things first...
Each player can purchase a mercenary trainer NPC (something like a merchant, but is only used to create new and renting mercenaries).

The owner of this NPC can create a new level 1 mercenary.

New mercenary can be armed with any armor and weapons and taken to training, that means you normally go in PvE with new "pet", where he will gain combat skills just like player.

Once we(owner) train mercenary to the skill level that we are satisfied with and we will arm him with appropriate equipment, we can hire him to other players for money.

Hired mercenary does not receive skill gain, but items that the owner has armed him with are damaged during combat, but they cannot be destroyed.

Players hiring mercenaries cannot change or repair their gear.

Mercenary can be hired for a specific period of time or for number of mobs killed.

Mercenaries can be characters that look like humans, but also like other species or animals.

Over time, they could even have different types of skins that would appear monthly for purchase just like skins of various items.
