Give coins upon hitting the rare timer while farming

Recommended Posts

Would make sense, since we get coins while burying or fighting.. I have gotten several moments of inspiration while farming, and it's no fun!
Probably has been suggested already, since it seems natural alongside mentioned coin-makers :)

I'd actually be for this, not much different from foraging / botanizing, it's like uncovering the coin whilst getting rid of the weeds, yeah.

And ofcourse removes the despair you feel when getting an MOI whilst tending/farming.

Rare coin opportunities are not moments of inspiration. Are you asking for the rare coin system to be added to farming, or for moi farming to give a coin?

@ArchaedCould you please explain the difference between a RCO and a MOI when fighting/foraging, to facilitate the answering of your own question?

rare windows are 1 every 2 hours on average

rare coins are 1/100 actions/kills/whatever if there's money in the coffers

To be honest, I am aware that there is a difference between creation/attachment/imp MOI on the one, and rare coin finding on the other side. Anyway, from a mere players' perspective, they appear with the same text and drumroll. And while creation, attachment, and imp sometimes create rare items (even in foraging and botanizing), farming MOI does not produce anything except frustration, or at best mild amusement (in my case). Thus a change to give it a chance to produce something seems a legitimate request to me whatever the necessary steps for are. Maybe the chance of coins would have to be reduced, that would be left to the implementors, and easily to test on the test servers.

I agree with Ekcin. For me, who never knew a difference between moi and getting coin even existed, the drumroll while farming always annoyed me, since I had the feeling I could have been doing something else, which would benefit from the drumroll. I just want farming to have rewards when getting the drumroll, that's all :)

I answer to Archaed's technical point.  I think the existing rare drumroll should be removed from farming, as it is too frustrating; any small increases to yield are not substantial enough to compensate for that disappointment.  The distinct and separate rare coins system should be added instead, may encourage more would-be farmers, and may alleviate some of the tedium sometimes associated with tending crops.  +1

Shouldn't rare roll on farming ensure better yield from that field or so they say? So technically it's not totally useless only it's very hard to notice and reward is miniscule...

My suggestion would be that a Moment of Inspiration happening during farming tending/harvesting give a larger bonus to the yield than it currently recieves. One more noticeable so it's not just dismissed as a waste.

Maybe a harvest that leaves the crop in the field, ripe or nearly ripe.

It totally makes sense that we could uncover stuff while raking fields. Archaeology fragments could be another fun possibility but I think coins would be more rewarding for a moment of inspiration. Things come up on farms in real life all the time. It's usually old broken glass or plastic trash, but people find buried artifacts and coins too. There are loads of cool stories about this kind of thing if you google "farmer discovers old coins".

Even if the outcome is just a small increase in harvest quality or yield, a message in the event log saying something like "This field looks especially healthy/productive/whatever" after a successful roll, would be a lot more satisfying than the way it is now where we feel like nothing happened. But I prefer the coin idea personally :)

MOI on farming is frustrating.

In my opinion, when you compare two players: one chosing to specialise in farming and one in blacksmithing, carpentry or other manufacturing skill, the farmer's gains after MOI are completely opposite to what the other would benefit from raring some item/material. Farmer's benefits after MOI are just inexistent.

I am not for output increase, extra crops or ql. What's the point in that ? you could easily plant one more tile and get extra output with no effort.

We should get something usefull from this, even if it involves a failure percentage: coins, fragments or something else.

I am always afraid to start farming as my frustration always raises when after hours of imping or something else no MOI appears, and then when picking the rake up, after a few fields I get the MOI message.

P.S. and if this message doesn't show frustration, well there is. Tending fields on a regular basis increases the probability to get these MOIs. and I've seen a few. I sometimes stop tending fields to do something else hoping to get the MOI on something usefull and then get to fields, but this cuts all the fun

no..

if you do, give coins x times more when improving items and fail to improve, lets make it all a coin farm, a cookie clicker with pressing buttons

you already generate good value with farming, and that's the most common action to trigger rainbowscreen, what could go wrong

I really don't understand your argument. Could you develop a bit to see why changing the MOI system in farming would be wrong?

I don't see the relationship between good value with farming and MOI. If this is true and farming gives good value, I suppose this has something to do with demand of certain items and not MOI.

To make it more clear, what I wanted to say is: for me the MOI system is not balanced: in some fields you have a chance of getting something interesting and usefull and in farming you get a chance to increase the yield. But this is only on harvest (according to wurmpedia, correct me if I didn't find all the information). Thus, on tending you get nothing and on a tile you have more tending actions than harvesting so the probability to get nothing increases. I would prefer a change in the system and get an extremelly low chance to maybe find something usefull than having a 100% chance of getting nothing usefull.
