Update on development

Recommended Posts

Not sure why they even changed AH to the extent they did ..

Have not seen anything other then name changes and messed up animals ..

As for new owners  ,  they should have canceled the purchase soon as Rolf said he saw no future for Wurm income wise .

This was posted when people found out of the sale/stock switch he did ..

I wish the best for Wurm , i still like it , but many a new and old game are blowing pass it  in style and play options ..

I'm yet to see a speed horse which is not only a trash old 3 speeds + useless 4th speed trait never activating, and then I have to ride around naked with near nothing in inventory to not get penalized by inventory weight and mount carry system.. great reward for for 95 animal husbandry skill and 70+ in body.str - non-existing perks for endgame. Best horse often is old "5speed", and new rare traits are just a complete gambling scam rolling more often on junk horses questionably worth keeping.

"Realism is fun"

Where did progression and rewards for that go..

Only saving grace for Wurm right now is either a miracle to put out solid content to bring players back in, content that isn't RNG / casino style mechanics where skill is irrelevant + advertising on multiple sites and using streamers / youtubers to help promote it.

Either that or another miracle like GCG investing into the development of Wurm 2.0 in a new engine, friendlier to coders than the limitations of the current java based Wurm. Keep in mind how many years it took for bridges to get implemented and how buggy some of them still are. Or underground houses.

Wurm will never really thrive in Java the way it could thrive in a different engine. Sure it can get updates, but the process of getting there won't be as efficient as other engines.

Many individuals/small companies the last several years have raised a lot of money from crowdsourcing on just ideas for mmo-rpgs.  I do wonder if Wurm 2.0 couldn't have gotten on the "sandbox mmo" crowdsourcing hype train and raised a lot of money too. Maybe they thought it was too niche to even try or just didn't have the vision for it.

They'd first have to choose an engine and devote some dev time to create a trailer demo for how the game would look and feel.

It's doable though, I mean a working Wurm 2.0 trailer similar to the steam trailer would raise quite a lot of money.  Question is if there's anyone left with enough passion, vision and will to see it through and not run away with the cash if they raise enough from a crowdsourcing event.

I'm currently looking at you Valheim devs which made tens of millions of $ on steam and 1 year later they have * insert cricket noises * to show as an update.

I think you got the wrong game, valheim was 7 months ago with the first major update coming in the next couple of weeks. They've also been sharing details and dev blogs the whole time

will wurm be coming to Playstation 4 because I got a VR headset for that.

I think if you made X to do an action and R1 to open a sub menu, the Arrow keys on the pad to direct attacks [hold Left and Up for Left Upper cuts] we could easily get this on the playstation.

I got it all thought through probably just as much as you guys with the VR thing so hit me up im ready to talk.

I see two problems here. Neither addressed for years. And so it keeps repeating.

I do enjoy the idea of making a thread or whole section for meme communication... sarcasm and irony will let some vent more and share a lot more lolz than current forum pvp.

With -55.3% on their stock since February I don't think their shareholders are happy.

https://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/GAME-CHEST-GROUP-AB-PUBL-120974631/?type_recherche=rapide&mots=game chest

They are still higher then what they were at in january and are stil higher then what they were at last drop go have a proper look at how their price has gone since they started or at any company like that and you will see increases and decreases happen time and time again while overall the low points and high points keep getting higher and higher

So long as their lows and highs arent getting less at their peaks then there is still growth no one company is expected to increase their stock value with 50%+ without any dips ever

I just find it funny that the game the company abandoned (Wurm Unlimited) has more positive reviews on steam than WO.

Steam reviews is worth less then my dirty socks.

Some example on reviews you find on WO and not WU which is why WO has less positive.

"its a monthly sub"

"so grindy"

ETC

Thats not real reviews in my eyes since its the type of game it is. So its expected that WO would recieve bad reviews, doesnt look good for new players tho since most will move on seen bad review without actually reading them.

We’re planning to release a smaller update next month, before the exploration update, and that will include those animal husbandry tweaks as well as some content additions.

We have the ninth day of the next month, a more precise update date would be nice.

Or for the needs of creating hype 2-3 sentences about what the update will contain, because if I understand correctly, it's not only AH fix.

At a first glance, the % of negative reviews of any product tends to discourage most customers from purchasing it.

In reality most of us don't have time to browse through reviews to see if they are without merit or not. We just look at the numbers.

It's no secret that any service / product with positive reviews tends to get more customers than those with more negative reviews.

You might not care about it, doesn't change the fact a good chunk of customers will see mixed / negative reviews and stay away. Personally I find that a marketing / customer relations issue, but then again, it's pretty much on a long list of issues now.

Thats very true, hence my last comment, however i dont think theres anything that will get steam review for a game like this above mixed.

So, we buy the company and give them their orders?

Raise a crowdfund for the money to buy the company, then let us wurmians run it and the game, true communist style. Give each player a share in the company upon registration.

WU almost has as much players as Steam WO these days according to the statistics.

OK, I'm a little late, just read this August post... VR?? really? I know it sounds cool but as some others have said, Wurm is a very niche game... those who would play Wurm in VR is even (way) smaller. Why oh why would you waste ANY of your limited resources on this? I realize this may be someone's dream to see the game in VR but let's face reality here. Please!

If anything, develop Wurm 2.0. The base game has so much potential if it were to be updated to today's games capabilities. But that aside... there is so much that could be done to improve the current game.

Unlike many here, I actually liked the changes to AH (with the tweaks now in game). I say bravo! If you want to keep all these new players you have got to increase the amount content updates. Anyway, just my 2 irons, for what it's worth.

WO was review-bombed by disgruntled current, former and angry WU players upon launch via Steam.

How often do you ignore that "those statistics" are crap? They show 100 users at times when /who on WO shows in excess of 500. They are just worthless.

They show steam statistics, probably not including alts, and wo is not just steam, even though it actually is just steam for steam players, they have their nfi cluster and nothing more.

/who shows numbers from nfi and sfi..

Concerning fact is .. many of these are alts and dupes playing on both clusters, meaning that 1 person will cut a lot from the online count during a break from the game.

Numbers are melting again, retention is fading, nobody seems to care to find out why and to boost the numbers again.

Hopefully new content brings more people, but hope does no business, at least I haven't seen one being run by hopes.

As said. the numbers are worthless, they do not reflect participation. And they are not trustworthy in addition. Maximum they ever showed was 1200, at a time when in excess of 3000 were playing WO, most of them from the "steam launch". Only few therefrom were certainly veteran wurmians, or alts, as the knowledge how to play multiple accounts via steam only slowly reached the new players. The methods valve uses serve their franchise, and their informative value is at best limited.

And no, numbers are not melting again, even not on steam. They are fairly stable which is unusual for Wurm in the summer season.  Retention of new players always was a problem, and it is hard to address.

Wurm 2.0....

Check out Rising World.... engine-wise it's definitely doable.  Pity RW doesn't have the skilling and QL system or it WOULD be an absolute wurm killer.
