Rare bed - what is the benefit?

I am trying to find out if a rare bed does anything other than shimmer.  Wurmpedia has no information, and the information that I can find on the forum is speculative and somewhat contradictory.

 

Is there anything definitive about what a rare bed does?

Well, at least I have gathered some of the speculative and somewhat contradictory information in one place, I guess.

 

Yes, I expect that the damage on use is reduced.  I have read a lot about it sleeping more than one, but I don't know if that is actually true, or if it is 2 or some other number.

shiny, takes less damage on usage, worth something.. compared to normal bed that rarely is possible to trade for anything..
