Should examining a box of chocolates eat one?

I have had a box of chocolates in my inventory since Valentines day.  I just examined it to copy/paste the description for someone and instead of the examine text I got;

 

[17:42:58] The chocolates taste so good you almost feel like singing!

 

and now I have 9!    It wasn't even "taste" it was examine.

 

Has anyone noticed is this a normal mechanic for this?

Nope, just tested it with examine. It didn't eat them ,CCFP or food bar didn't change. You might have eaten them by accident?

That was my first thought.  I had, though, waited several seconds for the focus to settle on "examine" and examine was nowhere near eat in the menu.  I am frequently tasting when I mean to eat, but I have never eaten when trying to examine.

I just did about 50 tests on one of my boxes. Number didn't change and the examine text was the same for all. 

I'm assuming you clicked the eye icon at the top of the context menu?

Nope. The "Examine" text in the drop down.

 

It looks like something has gone wrong.  Bummer, that.
