You should allow macroing

Recommended Posts

The biggest thing I always hated about Wurm is it felt like it was wasting my time.  I didn't really understand this feeling until I switched to WU and joined a server that didn't mind macroing at all.  Now I just play the parts of Wurm that are enjoyable, the boring stuff I just bot away and man this game has become so much better.

Although I seriously doubt you'll ever do this because I'm sure there will be a whole bunch of vets that come in here and say "I'd rather this game be just as hard as it's been for the last 40 years because I had to experience the terribleness so you need to as well."

Back in the day we had skill decay, that was removed because it was bad so I don't see why macroing isn't allowed.  ATITD allows macroing, and it's older then Wurm, so I figure it's just a matter of time before Enki finally is like "After 15 years of constantly reminding everyone that macroing isn't allowed I've finally decided it's a fruitless battle."

Would that mean those of us who were banned for it get to play on our old accounts again xD

😁 It's a computer game.  Of COURSE it was wasting your time!  That's partly the point.

As to macroing, that's a hard pass.  It's a sandbox, not an idle leveler.

I mean.. you're not even asking for easy mode.. you're asking for free ticket to top levels on all skills

What is there to like in your post or 'idea', the lack of that?

Anyone can run a potato 50$ pc and get top skilled character if you can macro things, all it takes is internet connection and power at that point, you can probably raspberry-pi this at the local cafe and run a "pocket" solar panel.. free level 100 without playing..

What's the point of playing the game, what do you do when you have everything and you work for nothing?

No thanks. If a game is too boring to play without botting maybe it's time to play something else?

Been into many games, esp MMOs that use botting and macro and i hated it. Just too many players just doesnt know how to enjoy it and earn it, rather than ruin it. Did you know using macro can cause the game unstability?

Allowing macroing would be the fastest and surest way to guaranteed I never play wurm again.  And yes, I've played games that allowed macroing.

In the past I would think about allowing macroing to give an alternative to new players to catch up in skills other than buying top notch toons.

With account transfers now forbidden it is a playing field which is if though far not level for fresh users but at least it is not exponentially impossible to catch up with all account. Now the account atrition is a thing - older players abandoning Wurm will thin out the high end account pool too (at least in theory).

no.. there's no end game content to enjoy, sure this might make some sense in wow.. where you'll maybe spend pocket change for few exp boosts and nothing on other before you get to a certain level... than you'll open the wallet and spend more on shop items...

*probably making bad example as I do not play wow.. only have heard of it's option to start top or top-ish.. level and I guess that is the reason.. you start making money for the company around the end-game

wurm have nothing like that.. biggest reason to pay is to get better gear/items/faster skill with sb and enchants.. is exactly at the start of the game.. near the end.. you've either gained a way to balance your costs or you spend way less.. UNLESS you're going for some 100 skill and you rush it by spending a lot for the resources you need - sb/enchants/resources

Your forum account is 8+ years old, that makes you a VET.  You sound very hypocritical to me.

As for your suggestion, I would like to add this too it:

Note to staff - Don't you think it would be a good idea to make note of this persons active accounts AND all his Friends list buddies active accounts,  then screen them for macro'n and maybe RMT.  Buddy is doing you a favour, exposing himself and his friends with this suggestion.  I'm sure his buddies will appreciate him even more now, after this.

PS.  LOL

Having used macro's in other games and been an admin for a game that did not allow it and having to sniff it out and deal with it.

I see no positive reason other then to give a very small group of people a way to just not play the game and get stuff.

If you can macro, i want to magic free items or skill out of thin air too with a timer which we all know is not gonna happen.

If you don't want to do something, pay someone else to do it.

That's the basis of the Wurm economy.

Without touching on the skill aspect,  allowing macros and bots would destroy the already fragile economy,  there would be no more reason to do player trades,  everyone would have sup/fan everything.

This is one of the best suggestions I've seen if the goal is to remove player interactions and turn when fully into single player game.

There are already solutions for players that feel the game is too tedious or repetitive, WU. Spin up your own local server, set speed rates higher and run your bots there.
