Patch Notes 17/JUN/2021

Recommended Posts

My new generation of horses is missing the "fat" status. I've been keeping them on enchanted grass but it seems they aren't getting fat anymore.

Anyone else experiencing this?

here in patch-notes or the AH-trait thread - 2 people were talking about the 'graceful eater trait' and chance for creatures to not get FAT because of eating less or less often.. it was to be observed and reported just between the two though.. if that have been observed already for decent amount of time and have entered server bugs.. idk.. maybe it's all fine

checked mine.. whatever haven't died or been slaughtered is FAT as usual

Just so I don't misunderstand, animals without that trait now have a chance of not getting fat at all?

idk, it was a thought that the graceful-eater-trait might or might not cause it, it was to be observed if it's a new thing or not and shared later in same trait-thread, possibly patchnotes/server-bugs IF it is causing issues at all

7 out of 7 horses left with killer trait "extremely sick" dead by the time young adult. "very slim chance to pass away" seems to equal an absolute certainty over a relatively short period of time. You get this trait, and a Fo priest is your only choice it seems. Again seems to also be a balance issue, with Lib not having access to a way to cure this trait.

I find this trait excessive on a non-inbred foal, the only place where I deem it might be considered a just penalty at all.

So much not to like about this update, and this rates as one of the worse decisions in my book.

Unbelievably fast trait is (I think) a speed trait that is always on, not all traits always on, and adds about 5kph base speed to horse.

Even if it would be just a 0.9% chance for it to pass away each time it eats, it's still a high number due to the # of eating ticks involved. If an animal eats 20 times a day , that's 20 times the dice is rolled. So in a week it's pretty reliable it will kick the bucket after over 100 rolls. In reality this translates to something close to a 99% chance to die in 1-2 weeks.

Trait is misleading in its deadliness.

The trait should be aptly described as "It has a high chance to die before it reaches maturity". That would be correct.

I have just realised that the reason we were all misinterpreting "It is unbelievably fast: always on speed bonus similar to hell horses (Speed, Rare)" as being traits always on, rather than being what I now believe it to be (as above) , and it is another example of poor communication -

"[00:00:08] <Demonanightshade> So, I went onto test. Recreated my exact horse gear on an identical horse to mine in game except with the new speed traits, made sure my inventory was the same weight, etc. In game I reached 35.29kmh on my horse. On test, with the speed traits there, got up to 42.49kmh, all flat ground, no slopes. That DOES include the rare speed trait, and even without that it reaches the same speed because the rare trait just makes it so all speed traits are always active (like hell horses.)"

This certainly seems to indicate that there was no, or insufficient, communication between the Devs and one of the few people who did actually have access to testing before things went live. Posted into comments May 28th, presumably read by staff, but even then they didn't communicate that there was an error here, and I'm assuming they didn't even let Demona know that the trait had been misinterpreted as it would have then been corrected in the later clarification of traits that occurred.

The trait does not make all speed traits always active, they vary just as normal horses, but the rare trait itself is always active, and gives a continuous speed boost. This explains why it then boosted further when in water, as only then did that trait kick in.

Other traits are equally as vague, or downright not working - stationary isn't, they run around just as much as any other animal, have yet to see (or hear of a single person who has seen) animals digging items up when feeding, vibrant, slow metabolism and graceful eater are all pretty unclear in whether or not they are working, extremely sick is not a slim chance of killing an animal (except on any individual hunger tick) but rather an almost certain death within a couple of weeks.  Animals showing as not hungry are starving to death, animals on enchanted grass are dropping dead, breeding timers don't work,  breeding is a RNG lottery, vehicle quality is not affecting speeds as predicted.

Communication? Completely and utterly missing.

The patience is gone, players i know are giving up and quitting.

A much anticipated update that has turned into not only an AH nerf, but a speed nerf to all.

What a mess.

Regardless of what demona said the patch notes said it would make them similar to hell horses, so from that I expect them to be similar to hell horses

Looking at breeding results, the outcome of the patch is that all AH fun is gone.

but the people that burn out trying to get the rare traits.

I can say I am definitely not going to participate in the rare trait casino as a career in Wurm.

As soon as the wave of new 4-draft horses has blown over, I plan to close my business.

Kinda the same. I've lost motivation to re-breed an entire horse stock from scratch after this patch. I don't have a Fo priest on call either 24/7 to genesis when the die says the horse has to have negative traits.

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the devs for some of the QOL changes that have been added. I'm thinking about the drag and drop equipment onto animals change. This change has been a true blessing, especially when dealing with hell horses, less time needed to open up windows and equip gear, means less time I'm burning alive :)

So I know many of us are still frustrated with the changes to AH and I hope that some of us still have hope in the team to smooth things out and to continue to fix things....I hope they still are working on this and have not moved on to other things. But I did want to say thank you, its not said enough, we often focus on our frustrations and let the good things slip through the cracks.

The draft horses as creatures simply look awesome, I can't believe we didn't have them before!

I would like to know if this is under review or considered working as intended. That's it. That's all I want to know right now above any other thing.

( feel free to correct my math on how many days its been if its wrong)

I would like clarification if the dominate trait pool resulting in foals that are no longer the dominate trait of their parents is considered a bug. Or an expected exception to the Parents dominate trait = offspring dominate traits.

spoiler: august 7th. still dont have a yes or no answer.

this is literally my first 2nd generation foal.

Trotsea was conceived 5/28/21 [21:39:45] The aged fat Goldalex and the venerable fat Goldstrong '3s+SPUsH F - CM SL' get intimate.

after logging out until 6/08/21 to check to see what I got. at this point Trotsea is an adolescent. from my logs. [12:32:27] You start to tend to adolescent fat Trotsea.

Trotsea is a young horse by my logs on: 6/18/21

Trotsea becomes an adolescent horse 6/26/21 [03:22:49] You start leading the adolescent fat Trotsea.

Trotsea is bred in an attempt to get a 4speed horse with new traits. she is my first breedable horse born after the patch.

6/30/21 [14:45:04] The adolescent fat Trotsea and the aged fat Lightningally 'M Classic' get intimate.

Trotwarrior is born today 7/8/21

so conception to breedable 5/28/21 [21:39:45] to 6/30/21 [14:45:04]

Mothers Conception to foals birth= 6/30/21 [14:45:04 to 7/8/21

Parents are a 3 speed(classic so 5 traits. white male ) and a 3 speed  4 trait piebald( one of which replaced 1 of her parents speed traits for the water trait.50 points)

 33 premium days to get:

the result is a skewbald male. color does not match the parents.

has 6 traits for 65 points. 5 points under my 70AH skill.

IS ONLY A 2 SPEED HORSE despite having 2 traits more then his mother. 1 trait more then his father.

He is now also Tied so he is 50/50 speed/output if I keep to breed. This is despite both parents being speed dominate 3 speed trait horses!

IF I keep him to breed I now have 20 MORE days to wait to see if I can keep the 6 trait slots. but I only have a 50% chance of RNG choosing the 6 trait parent. and only 50% chance for it to pick speed instead of output.

I still could LOOSE another speed trait on top of this and get even more of literally any non draft trait.

this horse is being culled. I now have to wait 2-3 days for the breeding cooldown, 6-10 days of gestation, to see if I can get a better result. at best 8 days of premium to try again.  or I can wait out the remaining 15 or so RL days for my 2 4speed foals to be breedable. Which is what roughly 48 days premium days? Even then I have to pray I do not get a repeat of the foal dropping its dominate traits in order to add output to its list. I will also have to hope I dont loose speed traits and role something completely different onto their foal.

There will be a post from a dev in the next few days responding to concerns and clarifying things. I personally don't know exactly how things were intended to be, and have not been breeding to see how my own results stack up. I've just been making runes to keep my current favored animals from aging. I do agree that something is not right, and have said that quite a lot of times through this thread. I am sorry it's been that way for everyone, I know you are unhappy with the results.

I've been lurking in the thread, kinda like I always do when playing.  I don't think I've ever seen such a straight forward address to player concerns.  I'm not a major breeder though we did cap out our AH to 60 for 5speed with sparks previously. I'm just stopping in to thank you for actually addressing the player concerns! This is one of the best things I've seen in my time playing.  Now we just need the response, even if it isn't what we want to hear a feed back response from the dev team will me a lot, at least to me.

Thanks, I wouldn't let the grumpiness of the players get to you.  Normally it just shows how much the players are invested in a game and rarely personal.
