TL;DR Alchemy mechanic for producing 'spirit of salt'(liquid)

mineral water-> +heat-> aqua salt-> +heat-> oil of salt-> + hot salt-> spirit of salt

Spoiler

Produce 'aqua salt'(aqua-green mineral salt, inedible) using (same mechanic as salt from salty water) a cauldron to boil mineral water(tastes strongly of rock) collected from underground wells only (for ease of coding).

[aqua salt is more-effective-per-quality than iron lump in creating black dye]

Further reading: green vitriol; iron(II)sulphate

Using a iron/steel/pottery container, heat 'green salt' beyond glowing hot to create 'oil of salt'(liquid).

[oil of salt cannot be put inside any wood/copper/bronze/brass/lead/tin/silver/gold/electrum container as this would destroy the container. Water cannot be added to any iron/steel container containing oil of salt, as this would destroy the container. Etc..]

Further reading: oil of vitriol; sulphuric acid

Combine 'oil of salt' with glowing hot 'salt' to create 'spirit of salt'(liquid)

[spirit of salt can only be created in pottery containers and can only be transferred between pottery, copper, silver, electrum and gold containers]

Further reading: spirit of salt; hydrochloric acid

TL;DR Beverages affinity transfer mechanic:
portion of food-> +spirit of salt-> (affinity retaining) chyme-> +unfermented [beverage]-> affinity-offset fermented/distilled [beverage].

Spoiler

Use 'spirit of salt' on a portion of food to create 'chyme'(liquid)(retains affinity-type of portion-of-food)

[attempting to consume chyme will cause you to vomit, reducing your food and water bars]

add 'chyme' to unfermented [any alcohol] to offset the resulting affinity by the value of the 'chyme'.

Affinity offset will carry forward to distilled beverages.

beverage affinity timer ignores affinity timer of offset starter-product.

TOO COMPLICATED; IGNORE TRADITION Affinity-retaining generic-beverage recipe:

any stew +any veg/any grain +sugar/syrup +optionals -> unfermented mash-> undistilled weverage-> Weverage
