Posted May 21, 2021 Just an FYI on some potential issues for anyone that is planning on moving to Starlink. I've been away from Wurm for a while, to take care of some RL stuff, but came back to move alts and deeds around a bit (consolidation time). What I encountered was massive lag and disconnects. My latency to Starlink isn't bad at all. Generally about 30ms, which is incredible for satellite service, but I've been finding a number of oddities with them, like many social sites are dial-up slow and now the Wurm issue. It has been generally good on other online games. Today I bought a VPN service (was already planning for use with a security camera) and fired up the client on my laptop. Wanted to see if this helped in any way and it really does. I still get some lags here and there, but not 20 second lag spikes and no disconnects at all. The lag seems about the same as when on my comcast cable internet at the other house. I suspect Starlink will sort out their internet pathways (or whatever it is) by the time they come out of Beta, but for now, I suggest looking into a VPN if you have the same troubles I did. If someone else has a better idea or understanding of what this is, please enlighten us all I'm happy to try out theories and see if they help.
Posted May 21, 2021 you'll probably be married for a vpn.. unless the sat net promises you better latency, afaik there will always be some delay.. gg speed, but delays suck for realtime gaming/well playing with other people.. not just solo on desktop and syncing achievements/
