Server caps for the new servers need increasing

Currently they seem to be at 800

 

That might not be enough and we are all severely underestimating it. 

 

When Epic was released, Elevation alone had 300+ people and there were also the home servers with possibly hundreds on each. Now it will be just a single server. This is just PvP, something that isn't the most appealing thing for most Wurm players.

 

The trailer also has 23k views already. 10% of that is already at 2300 people.

There are actually 2 new servers. But regardless, I imagine that is something that can fairly easily be changed on the fly, if needed. 800 seems like a very clean number for it to just happen to be the actual absolute maximum capacity for the server. Most likely, someone would simply have to go change 1 number somewhere, and maybe have to restart the server to make it take effect. However, doing this before necessary, and only getting a few hundred people would make the server look underpopulated to a newcomer, which would make the game seem "dead." From a business standpoint, that would be bad.

 

As for the number of views, that's not a great metric to base how many players there are going to be off of. For that, you want to look at certain analytics like viewer retention. How many of those 23,000 views lasted to the end of the video, and how many people clicked off immediately when they saw the game's dated graphics? Another important metric to look at is how many unique views it has. I personally have watched the trailer 4 or 5 times. In addition, many current Wurm players who have no intention of playing on the new servers have also viewed the trailer. The devs should have a better view of the analytics of the video, but as players, we don't really have any valid information to make assumptions off of with just views and number of likes.

Yeaa need 2 other servers, for MR & HOTS and connect everything to PVP server =D

I don't see how we'll be able to properly gauge this until launch. If they need to increase that's a great problem to have. lol

Short reply. There are too many unknown factors to decide that 2300 people will login on Friday.

 

Long reply: View count is not the same as number of viewers. For example, it used to be that a single youtube viewer could trigger up to 250 views, this limit was set to prevent someone with an auto refresh app to make it appear like a video was more popular than it really was. But in reality a VPN user alone can still skew the view count easily, not to mention more nefarious methods. Also, a 10% conversion rate from a promotion is quite high, esp for a dated game and I don't know anyone that just assumes that 10% will convert. A typical conversion rate is more like 2%, assuming everything was done right. When there is text to read and people are interested in the video, and the video is under 3 minutes, they will often watch it twice, once to read the text and then again to focus more on the scenes. This is a well known trick to get more views.

 

So if we assume viewer count to be 11,500, then 2% of that is 230. But that is still not good enough because that does not include successful conversions from other sources too because not everyone will watch the video. It's also possible that some conversions are gained from 3rd parties showing the video within their own video so a streamer for example with say 3000 viewers, only showed the video within their stream once as they watched it and those 3000 additional viewers wont show as views on the promo video. I could go on, but this is already long enough.
