Questions about Rift journal credit

So I understand to get credit for the 100 rifts in the journal I need to get 20 points in the rift. But to get the 1% added to my count do I also need to be

1. Online?
2. On the same server?

Probably both, I don’t know for sure. 
 

On a tangential note, there may be points where you don’t see it go up a percent, but the next one will jump up by 2% because of the odd way Wurm does that calculation. (I think I was on 52 then stayed, then jumped to 54 on 2nd rift).

From what i have seen other players do(especially those who just come around hit a few things and then leave) is they stick around on the server and log off once the rift is closed
Some stay in the proximity as well just incase but its generally seen as go to a rift get 20 points stay on server till rift is done and leave
