Rare Flower Variants

Recommended Posts

1/1000 spawns as one of these rare variants instead (only done through natural random spawn, not "spread" spawn or cast induced spawn).

When a flower is rolled as rare during a normal harvest, one of these is awarded instead with the appropriate rarity modifier.

They look distinct from regular flowers (new textures).

Why add them?  Because they're something nice for people to look out for when exploring, and a nice surprise for players out picking who roll a rare.

Going to bump this one and...

Has anyone ever considered rare tree/bush variants?  You know, for that extra deed prestige?

great idea and the sort of thing we need in game

I also thought about at high level gardening (70+) being able to cross breed flowers to get new types.

daft little example crossing a yellow flower with a rose you get the chance to grow a yellow rose etc. Would love something like that in game :)

omg, yes.
"end game" content for high level gather/harvesting skills to match high level content for combat and for crafting!! Yes, please.

Gardening - can crossbreed / cultivate new flowers
Foraging - can unlock bandages? / poultices? / healing covers? made from a wider variety of ingredients (basically, any of 'em?) Or can unlock new salves / ointments / unguents?

Botany - can now plant, grow, and harvest just about any plant or crop in pots and planters inside buildings.

Forestry - can use sprouts to graft a "shriveled" tree & return it back to a young age. Can graft trees to get "weeping" varieties, variant color varieties.

I would just love to be able to do some of this stuff.
(Don't tell me these practices are too modern - we've been grafting plants and experimenting with crossbreeding cultivars since the Fertile Crescent)

Going to give this one a bump, since it would make exploring more fun.

+1 I'd have thought they'd have put rarer flowers in already. If only they could code something simple yet fun for this even if it's just that rare examples are ingame and no fancy stuff, just as good.

Of course there's the almost mythological white dotted flowers which I can't say I've seen so perhaps more pickable examples of the same rarity or a bit more common.

I would love to see a bluebell woods though, not to mention variety like your OP suggested. I think the dev time would be well placed on upping the variety on flowers and other things.

I remember suggesting glades once, where gaps in the trees triggered alternate growth of new types of flora. Still liking that one.

Absolutely on board with this. I'd love to be a gardener in-game. Some additional types of flowers would be amazing as well - ie bluebells, dahlias, miniature roses, babys breath, etc. Various colors would be nice too.

Just throwing this out there - the Animal Crossing franchise has an interesting way of doing cross-breeding for color that could possibly work in Wurm. As an example, you start with three easily-found “basic” colors of rose: red, white, yellow. If you plant a red rose and a white rose diagonally from each other and water/tend them each day, there is a VERY small chance each day that a pink rose will spawn in an empty spot adjacent to them. Then you can do the the same with the pink rose and a yellow rose to get orange, and so on. Super rare colors like blue, purple, and black are possible, but the spawn rates are even lower so they are extremely difficult and can take weeks/months to breed.

To go along with this - maybe some new flowerpot/decor shapes? Like garden boxes, vases, wreaths for walls/doors, arched trellises, topiaries, wall swags, and so on. Maybe we can plant oleander and lavender in flower pots and arrangements. Some of us would love to go flower-crazy on our deeds.
