Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Firemaking  If you have lost your steel and flint, light a campfire and place a wood scrap inside. When the scrap is hot, remove it from the campfire, and right-click on your forge, oven, or other fire container to light it.  🤔  Lighting a fire can be done while moving, so long as you do not move too far away (two tiles) from the tile you are currently working on. You may move whilst lighting objects like torches and forges, but not creating a campfire Edited March 29, 2020 by cccdfern

This is where the campfire -> hot-scrap trick can come into play. Assuming that you can, at a minimum, rummage up flint and iron from rock tiles and chop enough trees to build a coal pile, you can light the coal pile with the hot scrap, get charcoal, and make steel. Yes, getting another (established) player to craft one for you is far easier. Like most things in Wurm, the do-it-yourself road is much longer. It's just misleading to say that other players are the "only" way.
Posted April 21, 2020 (edited) But where are you getting this hot scrap from? Â All I'm pointing out is that to get another flint and steel requires the ability to light a fire. Â And the line in the wiki doesn't make sense because of this. Â Edit: oh, well for the blind like me, maybe append the line to this If you have lost your steel and flint, light a campfire (with a woodscrap & kindling) and place a wood scrap inside. When the scrap is hot, remove it from the campfire, and right-click on your forge, oven, or other fire container to light it. Â It now reads: If you have lost your steel and flint, light a campfire with a wood scrap & a kindling. Place a wood scrap inside the lit campfire. When the scrap is hot, remove it from the campfire, and right-click on your forge, oven, or other fire container to light it. Â Hope this helps.
