The Wish-List

The wish-list is as the name suggests, a list of wishes that players mention they would like in the game.

Tamutnefret enjoys coding as his hobby. As time allows, all our server modifications are written by him. They act directly on the server code. How one change interacts with all the other changes already made need to be carefully checked.

There is no order to the implementation of the wishes. Sometimes they might be the result of requiring a small, tiny change to the code, discovered whilst investigating more complex code regarding a different wish.

When a wish is ready, after being run on a test server, it is introduced into the game when the servers are shut down and backed up. Sometimes the change will apply to both the Frenetia: The Gobbler's Banquet server and to the Arboretum server. At other times the change might be applied to one of them, but not both.

Be they large or small ones, wishes shape the future of the game. The introduction of the automated clay dredge, portable tile baking kiln, pottery tiles, underlying clay colour map and integument sculpture all are the result of the wish-list and have provided a new activity choice for the player. A wish such as having more coin drops for more activities was not so difficult to implement, and has led to the very good effect of establishing a deed more easily, and establishing some very large deeds, if the player so decides.

Trip ships, the popular, high volume, speedy ships with their unique luck-based coloured sail, which allow fast travel to conduct trades between players, grab a meal at a town feasting table, or to harvest bulk fruits, were once a vague idea on the wish-list.

Arboretum are repurposed guardener towers with guardeners. They produce harvests of a chosen or random fruit in 20 minutes, and may be built as close as 25 tiles to each other. They are also the result of the wish-list and will eventually tie into a future wish : The fully functioning Gobbler request game.

No matter how busy he is, Tamutnefret likes to hear about new wishes. You may post a wish on this forum thread, or tell Pameow in game.

We are happy to document here what is currently on the wish-list.

If some of these entries seem vague, that is because at this stage, they are vague. As time goes along some refinement and definition happens and eventually, some wishes do come true :)

Best regards from Pam and Tam.

Continue the development of the Gobbler game code.
-The Gobbler wand accepts Gobbler requests.
-The server reliably scores Gobbler donations
-and most importantly the server reliably *Remembers* players' Gobbler scores across backup shutdowns.

Other wishlist & stuff

Check Masks in archaeology, also skull bracelet skull shoulder pads.
Introduce a Cicada-like thing (crickets?) where players hide them, and take over ownership when found. Can be picked up. Develop a scoring system for them.
Players can make their own cooking recipes.
Pet bowls for non-grazing pets.
Return the cost of tiles when disbanding a deed (including perimeter).
Uniques shouldn't die of old age
Taming and breeding dragons
Woads in planters
Add leather items to Gobbler list (level 2)
Rename bred horses etc.

Once per year, disband deeds that have mayors who have not logged in for 2 years
Portable bed "swag"
Flying skill for players, maybe train by leaping off high places
Flying carpet event removes fall damage when you activate the carpet (like a farwalker)
Magic carpet for players to fly during events.
Only allow owner to put tiles in the sculpture
Different colours of pigs can find new colours when well-fed
Can get a rare integument sculpture with all pig colours
Care for all creatures
Add to online player bank accounts periodically - 15 c per half hour maybe.
Remove kill tasks from journal. Add Gobbler challenges to Journal eg Set the Table!
Add sentence to first page of tutorial saying if you don't move you will be logged out
Press escape to see menus
Platinum pickaxe, can get 100 ql reliably with 100 skill on 99 ql vein
Mining marble with fantastic pickaxe and Mining 99.9+ shouldn't max ql at 99.50.
A new hardcore server where you can swim (not boat) over, but inventory is left behind

Fire burn time when examining tile ovens is too high by a factor of 10 or so?

Fantastic items in treasure chests.
Can put items into magic chests to mend them.
Tiles can be taken (Using "Take") straight from the crate without how many question.
Tile crate question dialog is confusing.
On examine, check whether the integument sculpture has the highest score.
Faster run speed on roads.
Revive dead creatures.
Combine logs, without side effect of using material on failure to create things from them.
Visit statues/Avatar/dig resource types at corners of the map to gather gift fragments.
Maybe gift could be 100ql shovel, visit all public utmost mines for pickaxe?
Navigation challenge for 100ql compass?
Something like a rare bone that add 5 ql or something instead of rarity.
Breed unicorns for colour.
Dye marble bridges.
Cast a spell (or something) on an arboretum to get a transport mission e.g. transport 4 cows to some location.  Some sort of adverse condition obstacle to overcome in some cases.
Object in inventory with "roll dice" action, auto-refresh tasks on the board at the board game deed.
NPC Sandcastle barter-trade building.

Added:

Option to plant cacao beans in a pottery planter.

Adding personal merchant contracts, too, so players can set up shops to sell things they make.

Transferring rarity from strange bones to tripships and other boats, and to Arboretum.

Make fish keep nets behave as other containers do to retain their contents when crossing servers.

Add a check into the journal for the achievement of catching all types of fish.

The contents of treasure chests could include a set of collectible items.

Activities such as foraging, botanising, harvesting, cooking and archaeology will also give sets of collectible items, per activity.

Collectible items will also be eligible for Gobbler requests with scores according to scarcity.

The contents of treasure chests could include personalised recipes.

Magic Pet food will be able to be cooked and fed to meat eating creatures

Have directed activities, such as themed restaurants.

Selection of Guard tower display from all four kingdom models when built on a deed where the player is the mayor or a citizen.

A method to make snow tiles.

Reduce the length of the levelling and flattening timers.

New item for wish list! Could we please have the option to plant cacao beans in a pottery planter?

According to Wurmpedia, cacao beans can be planted in a pottery planter in WO, and it would be awesome if we could do the same here. Lots of delicious recipes involve cocoa or chocolate, and cacao beans are quite hard to forage (they seem to be a less common find).

Planting cacao beans in a planter has been added to the wish-list :)

The changes to the code will probably  be very similar to adding planting the woad in a planter so they may be done as a pair.

I would like to point out that there will need to be adjustments to these products' Gobbler scores when they become limited only by the player's willingness to build and harvest planters. Instead of having their current scarcity reflected in a higher score, they will score less, like other plantable  herbs. We may want to think about introducing some other new, rare items to give the foragers something valuable for trading and for Gobbler requests.

Best wishes from Pam.

Brown and black bear furs are now stocked by the merchants at each town.

The amount of damage done to the player's own buildings on a deed has been increased by approx 15 per hit, depending on what tool is used, compared to the old amount of 0.02 approx. The timer has been removed, compared to the old 30 seconds per hit. These  changes will make trying out different wall materials much easier, in fact pretty much instantaneous,  allowing plenty of experimentation if so desired.

Great!  I have been wanting a brown bear helm.  🙂

What do you think of adding personal merchant contracts, too, so we can set up shops to sell things we make?

We will add this to the wish-list. However, before it is implemented  the code will need to be investigated as to how to manage the trader behaviour of potentially sending the Kingdom bankrupt. There has to be plenty of coinage available to allow the increased drop rates and activities that drop coins.

Some information about dragon breeding.

Dragon breeding is already on our wish-list.

If a change involves exploring and interacting with complex code it will take longer. I'd guess that the dragon breeding code would be in that category.  The unicorn breeding to new saturated colours challenge will be Tam's introduction to the breeding code in general, and I'd guess that dragon breeding would come later than that, given their added complexity of red/blue and uniques nature.  We do not use any other code than our own, which gets integrated into the server in a very safe way, and in the order Tam chooses.

There are some players, including  myself who would like some baby dragons about the server. They are cute, and blue highlighted.  They will be able to be tamed, and be cared for. Via code exploration in the future, they might attain a much greater age than they already have. When they eventually die, they would be a source of dragon skin armour if the player wanted to farm them. Some players may have enclosures of blue creatures, or they roam freely, or swim (or if they are a dragon, fly) around camps. The non-attacking creatures can bring enjoyment by just being there.

Frenetia only attracts a few players who like a peaceful environment. If there is growth, and we hope there will be, it  will still consist of players who like blue highlighted creatures. Just like all the other blue highlighted creatures, bred dragons will not be able to be attacked.

Best wishes from Pam.

Use of rare bones and tripships.

Checks for transferring rarity are as follows:

Not a new player item
Not unfinished item
Not items that are "no take"
Not a corpse
Not a lockable item, does not have a lock
Not an indestructible item
Not a huge altar
Not a rift altar
Not a domain item
Not a kingdom marker
Not an artifact
Not a fragment
Not an egg
Not in the bank
Not being currently traded

 Not able to be enchanted

Tripships fail two of these checks. They are built with a lock. Even if the lock were removed, the tripship still remains a "no take" item. These are the reasons why the rare bone does not work on the tripship.

Transferring rarity from strange bones to tripships and other boats, and Arboretum will be added to the wish-list :)

Best wishes from Pam.

Information about the Fish keep net.

We have investigated the fish keep net behaviour of losing its fish when the boat crosses servers. Yes it is a bug. It appears to happen because the fish keep net is attached to the boat and it is not treated in the same way that other containers are. Its contents are not reported to the server which is arrived at. I have placed it on the wish-list for Tam's attention. Meanwhile, as a workaround fish could be placed in a barrel or other container to cross servers.

Best wishes from Pam.

Congratulations Bradesco on catching all the types of fish :)

I have added including this achievement into the journal on the wish-list. When it is ready we will make a retrospective entry for you and for others who achieve this in the interim.

Improved Archaeology

Thanks to player information about an inbuilt server setting,  both servers have now been adjusted for archaeologists to find more "Dead Villages", and thus find an increased amount of scarce fragments.

Third Birthday Cake Recipe

The long length of the wish-list is not an issue, just so long as we are patient, understanding that wishes do take time to get into the server code. The longer length gives more scope in the coding process and may lead to other good ideas.

There have been some more wishes that I am adding to the wish-list.

- The contents of treasure chests could include a set of collectible items. Some of the items will be common, others quite scarce, making obtaining the whole collection possible over time, given enough activity.

- Activities such as foraging, botanising, harvesting, cooking and archaeology will also give sets of collectible items, per activity.

- Collectible items will also be eligible for Gobbler requests with scores according to scarcity. This will give the collectible items a trading value, as well as being collected for their own sake. Players will need to get a feel for what is rare before making trades. The forum thread will assist fairer trades by players documenting scarce items.

- Some players might like to cook up a new product that has no meat content in it, but will be quite suitable for meat eating creatures to eat, and to be tamed with. This is because Frenetia is a magic place where reality is not always the determinant of player activity. It will be called "pet food".

- The contents of treasure chests could include personalised recipes. For example, "Pameow's terribly boring but very easy casserole, ..." From time to time new recipes will be included.

- Another wish has been more social activities. These will happen spontaneously over time, as there is growth in the amount of players.

- Directed activities such as themed restaurants is also a good idea. We would need to work out some  suitable guidelines for players who are interested. For example, even if there is only one entry, a prize for all could be given. We could have a different theme each year and perhaps a title for builders. Since we already have the feasting table reward for the Set the Table! Gobbler's Banquet, it would need to be something else. Perhaps we could work with additional Gobbler score, when it is up and running, making for a larger server-wide Gobbler score.

One of these wishes is going to be given a quite high priority. Readers will notice that the first post of this thread is dated July 28, 1019. That was the first day of the test server which ran for three months before this current server started. Thus we are coming up for our third birthday. We invite recipes for the third birthday cake. They may be posted on the forum, or tell me in game. One of the recipes will be drawn out of a hat, so it is luck who's recipe is chosen, and it will be coded as a treasure chest item. We need to receive the recipes by the end of March.

Best wishes from Pam.

why doesn't my bulk storage box fit in my wagon? I put silver's Magnanon rune...

We don't know why the wagon with the Magranon silver rune attached will not accept the bulk storage container. It is supposed to. Tam will look into it.

The silver rune of Magranon is meant to increase capacity by 10%. Is it possible this isn't enough to fit a BSB into a wagon?

Incredibly large deeds.

Our philosophy is to have no limitations on deed size. Some players may like incredibly large deeds. This may be quite a novel experience for players who are used to relatively small deeds elsewhere. If our player growth is such that the server cannot fit all the deeds, we view this as a good problem to have. We are quite willing to open new servers.

What we want to achieve is a fairness for all our players. Those who are casual hours players may feel pressured, that they do not have time to do the activities to get a large deed, and by the time they do have the coins the tiles may be long gone. That is not an enjoyable experience at all.

We have a solution. When a player has playtime of 50 hours they may apply for a deed expansion assistance of 10 gold coins. This will mean that incredibly large deeds are not only possible, but probable.

"Monster" deeds, larger than 10 golds worth are still not limited. However they will need to be purchased. We will make the assumption that the player really wants a "monster" deed and works very hard to make it happen.

This will have the effect of releasing more coins into the general economy, and that is not a bad thing. Players may purchase more items from the merchant or from each other. When the Gobbler game commences everyone will have extra for trades, to feed Gobbler requests.

The Deed expansion assistance will be limited to one per steam account. Having alternate accounts placing tiny deeds to block regular players will not be viewed favourably. We have no limitations on the amount of alts, but do expect them to behave with consideration to other players.

Best wishes from Pam and Tam.
