I also think it's rather toxic to be discussing the removal of other staff.

Will his new journal system ever actually work on Wurm Unlimited? There's entire swaths of content that is missing in WU and then the journal has been chucked in and is physically impossible due to requiring missing content.

We keep seeing talks of wurm going to steam, but you've got the WU community who will turn on it and go "well look at how they treated us, 6 months for driver fixes where WO got fixes in a matter of days or weeks, 6 months for content patches, content doesn't even work"

Yes the current plan is to open new servers, at least one pvp and one pve. Although they will use the same account server you will not be able to travel or trade between these and the old servers.

Does that mean that existing WO accounts could login on the future "steam servers"?

Also, pve and pvp, are the two going to be a cluster or completely separated?

Ok real talk

Samool seems like a pretty cool guy. I genuinely wish him luck running this project.

I don't have any friends left to play the Steam release with because they were all banned for 'toxic behavior' or something.

I am assuming bans will carry over to this new steam version? I don't think I have any friends that aren't banned.

I doubt ill play knowing I could get pinched at any moment for being too toxic. The lack of escalation of bans/warnings is whats really scary to me. No warning, no mute, no temp ban, just permanent IP bans as a business model. Yikes.

retro isnt that bad

I don't think those bans are as common as you make it seem. If all your friends have been banned for toxic behavior, that probably says a thing or two about your friends.

@Samool Congratulations and best of luck on your new position :)@Buddathank you for everything and best of luck on your new adventure wherever or whatever it'll be :) at the rest of the staff well best of luck with Wurm on Steam...as for bans on stream hopefully it works the same...ppl got banned for a reason some were for exploiting some were for bullying and some for whatever other reasons so I don't see why they should be allow back in the game if they can't respect the rules...but I'm just curious if things would work the same to an extent on Steam?  I've NEVER played on Steam so no clue how that works...thanks in advance!!!

Just the very prospect of your account arbitrarily being deleted is enough to seriously put you off playing. Perma bans used to be 1000 days, I actually preferred that lol because at least the thing you slaved away on still exists.

If I am not sure whether you are really informed about the bans in question which to my knowledge have been published in Gallows lately. In case there are more and unpublished cases I may be wrong and stand corrected, then. Those cases were referring to a behaviour carried out by the defendants which would have constituted a crime or felony at least under the laws of my country as far as I understood, and what one of the perpetrators demonstrated in discord in my presence after the ban. I do not know whether the guilt is the same for the whole association, and those feeling injustly or unproportionally dealt may apply to the management for a revision or alleviation. But what I saw certainly justifies a permaban. A company has the right and duty to protect her employees from unlawful and obscene personal attacks.

In America, you cannot mention anything to do about the removal of a staff member...  Only that they "moved on".

I don't know how this works in the EU, but announcing any staff changes to your customer base seems really unprofessional.

Is that America taking political correctness to another level or what?

I don't see anything unprofessional from Rolf in this thread, but then again, you haven't made sense in any of your posts yet, so ...

If you say anything at all about an employee, they could end up opening a lawsuit against you.  Defamation of character is a real risk here in America.

It is extremely unprofessional.  Having managed large teams before I could not imagine announcing on any public forum, the removal of a staff member no matter how bad the person was.

"Our players and customers asked for more transparency and information. We listened and started providing them with all sorts of news and updates about the whole of our product. They should be happy, right?"

Think again!

Why does every single post from staff have to be derailed to this? Why is is ALWAYS caused by people playing on PvP servers? Not all of them but it's never us, "freedumbers", causing what's evidenced above.

Derailing every single post in the same way, creating (3 today so far that i counted) new forum accounts because of reasons, just to post this rubbish which has nothing to do with the subject matter.

This is very professional. The staff roster is and always was publicly available on the forums and many of us consider staff members our friends. We play with them, we know them, we care about them. This way of delivering the news is way more professional than "holly goat! Did you hear the rumor??? XYZ is no longer a member of the staff!, check the staff roster on the forums, i think there was a mistake"

https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/4976-wurm-online-staff/

With the recent updates and letting us in a bit closer to the information about the plans, i'm very optimistic about the future of Wurm. Thank you for sharing the much needed information, Rolf.

Thank you @Budda for all you've done for WO and WU, it literally would not be the same without you.

And congratulations @Samoola well deserved recognition for the job you have done, and best of luck in the job I'm confident you will do in future.

That's really all I have to say on this, I've written on the Steam launch, nothing so far has changed my mind in supporting it.

And the PvP stuff, nope, not with a 10 foot pike, just not going there.

@jonsnowidk where you get this information, first it's not unprofessional he isn't bashing, cursing, clapping etc..it was a heartfelt goodbye while also informing the community. I live in America too.

At my company and I asked a few people before I posted this response if what you are saying could be considered unprofessional and the answer was/is NO.

The place where I work, when they get rid of someone, they always send out a mass e-mail stating that they no longer work here and wish them well on their future endeavors.

I worked for several companies even USA origin ones and leavers are always announced and wished well for future. Must be a real toxic environment where you need to hide changes of staff...

Well employers' habits in the US tend to be rough, and employees have few rights. I know cases where people were fired on the spot, could not even return to their desk, for no wrongdoing just economic reasons. Would not be possible here in Europe unless some severe transgression from the employee's side.

Typically "on the spot" firing is for people with power to screw stuff up or people they think will cause problems. I work as the head IT person in my office. I'm fully aware that if the company decides to get rid of me, I will be escorted out and my desk will be cleared out and mailed to me.  That is because I have the ability to literally delete all of the data the company has.
