Branch WS and BS skill

Recommended Posts

This is meant to encourage trading between players and rejuvinate the market, make choices more interesting and meaningful, bring diversity.

The suggestion is to branch blacksmithing skill into 3 skills: Toolhead smithing, Toolblade smithing, Horseshoe Smithing and branch weaponsmithing skill into Axesmithing, Swordsmithing, Polearmsmithing, Maulsmithing.

Butchering knife, carving knife, sickle and scythe would go under toolblade smithing while items such as anvil, small anvil would go to toolhead smithing, the rest would be divided accordingly.

The players would have free transfer to transfer from blacksmithing to one of the 3 choices and transfer from their weaponsmithing to one of the 4 choices. The blacksmithing and weaponsmithing skills themselves would lose their effect or maybe even removed completely. The 4 new weaponsmithing skills would each take the same time to lvl as weaponsmithing does.

Each of these skills that replace the current blacksmithing and weaponsmithing would have their own titles.

Imagine being the poor bastard who grinded blacksmithing and weaponsmithing to 90 and beyond, and then being forced to do it again

It is not about regrinding blacksmithing and weaponsmithing, it is about branching them instead of letting one skill cover everything and giving the person who already grinded the option to choose one of the branches for the skill level he grinded to transfer.

Definitely no for giving nothing else but 3x more grinding. WS is bad as is already anyway. And... why you hate smirhs only?

Huge -1.

a) This doesn't make any sense from realistic and immersive perspective

b) Doesn't bring anything new to the game that gameplay would benefit from instead it just makes it more tedious for no reason

Please do some thinking next time before you post idea

Also smithing is one of the already most granular skills and one where grinding the subskills will not also grind a useful main skill (Smithing). Compare it with Carpentry or Masonry. If anything, Smithing skill should have an actual use. I really don't understand the reasoning behind your idea.

And that there is the first red flag.

"We're gonna cut off 3 of your limbs, but it's ok because you can CHOOSE which 3".

Nah man -1

There's enough grinding on Wurm as it is.

Wtf.

What? Lets split a skill you spent forever and a day grinding into three and make all that effort useless.

That sounds like a terrible idea.

Blacksmithing is fine the way it is. It still takes a lot of time to raise it to 90+ and then becomes a nice self-reliant skill for those who took the time to do so. Yep, then they are free from paying others from this service. Weaponsmithing being all the much more time consuming should not be messed with either for the benefit of selling items to make RL cash substitutes to be used in and out of game.
