Client bug with java error

Recommended Posts

Goodday to all,

As title mentions my client will crash with a javaerror, before further detail some pc info:
Processor: Intel i7-4790k CPU  4GHz

Ram: 16 GB, 64bit

Nvidia Geforge GTX 970, latest build

Java 8, latest build

The client can run on the lowest settings (no animations, no glow of rares etc) untill a female toon pop up.

Taking ingame screenshots will also crash the game.

The link below has a crash log for F11 crash, crash log with female toon in local, a normal start and exit (without any toons in local) and a picture of the fps i get from a dxdiag and both setting folders i used during these crashes.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1as9db6NjLkxVrowICFrfcVUF3i1-KZUQ

This isnt the first post about this topic, several people already had a go at this, all previous methods had no succes in overcoming this error.

The java version is 8 and on the latest build, drivers are on the latest build aswell, the error keeps happening when ever a female character loads in or the LoD is turned on or most of the otherwise disabled settings in the "med working" config are turned on.

Can't help with the rest, but I am told crashing on taking a screenshot can happen when you have a LOT of screenshots in the folder.

An easy workaround is to make a subfolder "OldStuff" or "pre2019" or somesuch,  and move all the current screenshots there, leaving the rest of the folder for newer screenshots.

At that point new screenshots can be saved again without crashing the client.

My screenshot folder has nothing in it, expect that one for the fps picture.

well try it on D, just to rule it out.

your c drive is small and almost full. No harm in trying

very true

  • Drive C    Free Space: 18.9 GB
  • Drive D      Free Space: 1754.1 GB

I would probably also try a reinstall of both Java and Wurm to D drive (D:\games\wurm or similar)

Yes you lose the benefit of the SSD drive but I think that would be better than crashing.

Have tried to instal java on the same disk as wurm, it still crashes with the same errors.

3 things you can try

1.

uninstal wurm because its installed in  D:\Program Files (x86)\Wurm online\

and windows 10 has a lot of permission issues dealing with programs in that place'.

my wurm is installed in C:\Users\USERNAME\wurm\  so you can try D:\Users\USERNAME\wurm\

when you download wurmclient.jnlp and before you install it, rick click it, go to properties and

make sure its unlocked. if you dont see an unlock tick box, youre ok. if you see it, then click it

and click apply.

2.

add javaws.exe to your nvidia 3d settings. Open nvidia control panel and go to manage 3d settings, click add, then browse

to your java folder, *version number*, bin, javaws.exe, and add it. (your nvidia navigation may be a bit different than mine)

3.

after all that

use my game settings. your computer is better than mine so for what its worth it may be a setting

thats jacked up, like fbo or something. where you now reinstalled wurm, (not in Program Files (x86) but

D:\Users\USERNAME\wurm\ paste this in your gamesettings.txt file after deleting what is inside. you can

make a copy of your gamesettings.txt file first and paste it on your desktop, or wherever you want where you can find it later.

it should be in D:\Users\USERNAME\wurm\configs\default. if the game has not made one yet, then just make

a gamesettings.txt file and copy paste my settings into it.

-----copy paste whats below to gamesettings.txt------

My install preferences is D:\games\wurm as I think User files may have similar "system folder protection" issues as Program Files folders ...?

As an update, none of the suggested fixes were working (thanks for trying Griffith and others)

Did a windows recovery with saving my own files (That deletes java, adobe etc also discord, teamspeak but games)

I can run high settings and no longer hide from any female in local.
