Top 10 games (other than Wurm)

Recommended Posts

Battlefield 1942 (Forgotten Hope mod)

Battlefield 2 (Project Reality mod)

Arma 2 (+ the original OFP)

Soldiers of Fortune 2

Mount & Blade: Warband

Anno 1602

Europa Universalis 2+4

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 (also played ever game of the series ) -> addictive and competitive multiplayer (RobZ mod)!

Hearts of Iron 2+3

Diablo 2

Many childhoof memories... this list is not fixed, but could change. (GTA:SA:MP, AoE2, Commandos, RTCW, Sudden Strike, Gothic...)

I just can't remember all of the hundreds of games that I've played!

Being 30 years old, I've seen a big evolution in the past 25 years of computer gaming.

Wurm Online was like my first or second MMO.

I was into strategy and fps a lot more :)

- Space Rangers series (a galaxy that moves on with or without you, with great loot/equipment/ship system and interesting combat)

I remember it, had some really good times with it few years ago. Shame it didn't got recognition it deserves. :)

Yep. The remastered version was very good.

While talking about space games, i feel Knights of the old republic 1 and 2 need some love. Didnt make it into my list, but def a game worth trying even today if you havent. :)

smite
fallen earth
blade and soul
tera
granado espada
pwi
will leave 10th free
I wouldn't call either less favorite, it's random games I've picked up, to some I come and go, there are probably better titles to mention but some just didn't make much impression even if they were better, going through story, achievements etc.

I don't know about top 10, but games I still play:

SWG (emu!)

Civ 6 (and 5) (and 4)

Cities Skylines

The Sims (all of them, really)

SimCity 3000

Banished (Colonial Charter mod makes it an entirely different game)

Shroud of the Avatar (great community though I'm terrible at games that require fighting)

Legend of Zelda (original and the Adventures of Link--I will always love these!)

I find it disturbing that nobody mentioned Witcher 3.

I did mention it, but not as my top 10, only as an honorable mention. :)

ActiveWorlds. This is the original online chat/building mmo that I started playing and I am always surprised that so few others here ever mention it. It went online sometime in 1995 and is still around to this day. Although pretty antiquated with its flat panel building system it did become a bit more sophisticated over the years but in comparison the Wurm environment surpasses it in every aspect. I did play it for many years before starting Wurm and found about Wurm from the blog webpage of a pretty good builder in AW. I still played it for a year or two after starting Wurm but eventually in comparison AW just seemed too flat of an environment so I haven't played it again since then.

Also I played Ultima Online for some years before Wurm and then moved on to World of Warcraft which I played along the same time as Wurm for some years but eventually got tired of the killing mobs thing and just stuck with Wurm since then. The creativity of building and shaping the environment here still draws me in each day, where as I shape the path to wander it unfolds before my eyes anew.

Happy Trails

My list i fairly short, my list also consist of Online games, I've never been hyped by single player games even owning Red dead 2 and many others I can't say they have been worth their release price. I'm not a story hog so those features go right over my head.

Conquer Online (2004-2008 gradually turned into a casino p2w)

Runescape

Turf Battles

Wurm Online

Path of Exile

Warframe

Archeage (had the most fun I've had in an MMORPG in the first 6 months, then it went full p2w)

The online game that started it all for me was Ultima Online, probably about a year or so after it started. Always just a bit late to the game, like Wurm too. It was a wondrous tiny world to live within and interact with other people from across the world. So much to learn too and then later to be satisfied with the new capabilities to be used through those skills. Then the tiny houses to live in where objects acquired could be placed inside. The original concept of "rare" items was there, gathered to be the first to log in hidden in some "secret" spot when the servers restarted. Then after playing WoW later I saw how tiny it really was and could never go back to it again as it paled in comparison to WoW's vast enlarged expanses to wander.

It gets even more insane with mods. :D

in vanilla progress loop is fairly simple - with better technology you get access to more stuff and sometimes get simple speed improvements for the old things. Angel mods got this as well, but also get improvements of old processes to make them more efficient or output extra things, often requiring redesign of part of the base - for example, ore sorting initially requires just single machine and outputs 3 products, but high-end ore sorting facility requires several more machines and outputs over 15 products. In addition, there are often multiple ways to obtain the same products with their pros and cons.

i heard Py mods are even more insane, but never tried them (yet). :)

In no particular order, and no particular version.  These would likely be my top 10 picks for PC games of all time. I'm likely forgetting something that should be here, but I'll go with this for now.
:)

Civilization

SimCity

X-Com

Football Manager

Skyrim

Age of Empires

Kerbal Space Program

The Grandest Fleet (old turn based naval battles)

Great Naval Battles (old real time naval battle sim)

Silent Hunter (real time sub sim)
