Re-initialise sound during runtime for when an output device is connected/disconnected

Recommended Posts

If this doesn't exist already, could we please have a console command (or better yet an automatic event handler) to re-initialise Wurm's sound output? This would solve the problem of sound not moving to a new primary output device when an output device (such as a headset) is connected or disconnected during runtime, without the need to restart Wurm. -- It's quite typical on a Windows system that the headset output is primary with speakers being secondary so that hot-plugging a headset "just works" as intended.

I'm aware that some sound devices do have the option to combine the output devices so applications only see a single output device, so that an application would never need to worry about a headset connecting/disconnecting, but this is often a preference. (It's also not available on all sound devices or certain drivers.)

I see that Wurm uses LWJGL and OpenAL, same as Minecraft, so those libraries do offer the event capability. (It just needs to be implemented in Wurm.)
