How does sorcery work?

Recommended Posts

When you read a book, do you get the ability to cast the spell without needing the book? Or do you have to carry the book around with you and use it to cast?

Also, the wiki says you have to be near an altar to use it - is that just to read it once to learn the spell then you can go cast the spell anywhere or can you only cast near an altar, and does "near" mean in its area of influence or actually standing next to it?

Do the spells have a finite amount of charges? If the book is only needed to learn the spells and not to cast, are any charges just per reading (you can go back and read it again for extra charges) or is it only so many charges per book?

You cast the spell using a staff made out of a star gem dont need the tome with you, when you use the book or whatever it consumes a charge from it then you have the spell permanently. just need the altar to use it can cast spell anywhere after, spell is infinite casts that cost karma (500-800 or something depending on spell). Each tome is 3 charges on freedom, so 3 people can get the spell permanently out of a single one. ones from winning missions on epic are 1 charge.
