Xanadu map gone?

Recommended Posts

You probably need to post in the Xanadu Community Map thread

Continually updated server maps are not "official" and instead only maintained by layers. There is a note at the first post by Aniceset that they are taking time off and Jackjones is taking over, but apparently ... something happened, I am not sure what.  Check the last few posts there.

Officially supported "dump map" is here:

Apparently it is affecting several of the community maps that recently started using http://wurmonlinemaps.com/ as their provider, I imagine it will get fixed within a day

Google Sheet API has been acting inconsistent for a week now. A Google Sheet being our chosen method of managing map point data.

Google's service has been up and down (mostly down) without notice and for an unknown reason outside of map code. Not much I can do at the present time without a large data source modification.

Thank you for all of your patience in this matter, and I'll let you know when the map is up for good.

(Keenan mentioned something amiss with Google 2-factor auth acting funny. While not relevant to this map issue, more proof that Google is not perfect.)

Maybe you have too many accesses in a certain time frame. You really should use a database for managing so much data

I check the quota from time to time, and we are well under the limits by a many magnitudes.

Also there is not much data in the grand scheme of things. Maybe 500-600 rows of JSON data. We had a fully fledged web application with database and management pages at first, but went the Google Sheet route due to much easier data management interface.

On Sklotopolis we are using our own custom interface for map editing:

Players submit their deeds and other markers, we review them and hit the checked or X if it should be shown or not. Quite easy to maintain.

Ahh see you are a God on your server.. if someone tries to jack with your map data, you can smite them! I have no such powers...

That has nothing to do with my powers on my server. I also rely on what users provide me as village location, of course we have the possibility to check in person if the marker is really correct but mostly we also need to trust our players. We have about 1000 markers.
