Posted July 11, 2018 On a serious note, this time. It would be great to be able to build dams that hold back water, and then be able to pump water out of an area down to a certain depth, say maybe 200 dirts. We would build wooden wall sections which would have to be coated with something waterproof, like tar or hardened clay or something else. We could then plant these barriers in water, forming a long wall that water cannot pass through. If we build a wall across a lagoon, we could then pump out the water in the lagoon and get some land which we could build on or even mine for clay and such. We could even make a dry passageway from one island to another without needing to build bridges. In some cases bridges would still be quicker to build than a dammed up passageway. But in other cases, damming up the water would allow us to expand a settlement into what is currently underwater.
Posted July 11, 2018 You can already expand a settlement that is partly underwater by dropping dirt/leveling. Most of what you're describing can actually be accomplished in this manner. To my understanding, anything involving changes to the water table are not possible at this time.
Posted July 11, 2018 On a serious note; you have an ability in game to affix water already, this is not needed.
Posted July 11, 2018 I am not sure what you mean by this, you want to remove water without raising the area to have a pit essentially? Are you trying to make a lake? You can raise the dirt as is.
Posted July 12, 2018 Water in wurm doesn't work like that so what you described is practically impossible. And also already possible to claim tiles under water by dropping dirt. The problem is that everything in wurm at sea level height is water, so you can't have water above that and you can't have land bellow that height. So you can't drain water to make a depression in wurm, or what ever you wanted to do with it, you need to raise dirt to above sea level.
Posted July 12, 2018 Also why we can't get rivers or lakes up in mountains. Not sure that can ever be changed in any way even if devs played a bit with creating water higher up than sea level some years ago.
