Need Help With New Graphics

The new "normal mapping" is having no visible effects on my in-game graphics. It toggles correctly at the main settings panel outside of the game but has no effect while in-game it seems - everything looks and performs exactly the same as always. The detail level is at the recommended "very high" also.
