Posted June 24, 2018 Computer totally crashes after starting wurm 3-5 minutes later, only thing that works is a reload. Sounds completely bugs out, mouse doesnt work anymore and just a total computer reboot works to get my windows up and running again. Jave is updated to the max on a 64 bit system with windows 7. I cant play wurm anymore for 2 weeks now, pls help
Posted June 24, 2018 that's no good! Can you get a console log from your wurm folder in console.playername.log and paste it in here?

Posted June 24, 2018 We'll need the file from your PC, it'll be in the wurm folder and includes a bit more information. It could also be an issue with your PC overheating, you could check out a third party program to monitor temperatures just incase it is
Posted June 26, 2018 Java seems up to date and my CPU temperature and GPU temperature are perfectly fine. Still not able to run wurm on my pc lolol, what a way to end 5,5 years of playing Guess we will meet again if I have a new pc one day ^.^
Posted June 26, 2018 This is definitely due to some system issue on your end and most likely your machine is getting too hot when running Wurm - the game itself has no right to freeze your computer to the point of needing a reboot and that along with the sound issues are a common sign of overheating. Lowering settings and enabling the fps cap should be of some help but generally you should look into the temperature situation with your machine (maybe just cleaning the dust inside would help), as you're likely to have the same problems in other games. Posted June 26, 2018 Can you tell a bit about your computer specs? In steam minimun system requirements are made for my old computer. I can fire it up in 12hrs and test if im able to play. I used minimun graphs and all sounds and stuff off. I will be having 5 stars hangover but dat aint problem.
Posted June 26, 2018 (edited) Assuming it is the same computer as they had last fall, we at least know it's a quadcore with an Nvidia GTX760, so it's not too ancient .... a lot of Wurm plays just fine on older stuff. They easily meet system minimum requirements, which on Steam version is a Core2Duo and an Nvidia 4xx so WO spec requirements is likely similar. (Back then, a simple switch froom fullscreen to windowed fixed it for LorenaMontana, but it's likely not the same issue this time as that was a client bug.) Posted June 26, 2018 (edited) If not sure if heat issue you can try this program. https://openhardwaremonitor.org/ List anything that reads over 60 degrees celsius while idle (not doing anything). My PC at idle is 27 degrees celsius and Nvidia 1060 is 40 degrees celsius, but it's built for gaming and airflow. Max TDP (before it shuts down and melts) of most processors is 100 degrees celsius. I know fans crap out on the older EVGA graphic cards a lot. Make sure the video card fan is spinning. Edited June 26, 2018 by nicedreams
Posted June 26, 2018 Thanks for replies and trying to help guys, I downloaded this HWMonitor program to monitor everything while running wurm. GPU temperature goes to a maximum of 60ish and my CPU never goes above 48ish celcius. I indeed run a GTX 760 as brash said and this I5 processor. Weird thing is I can run everything perfectly fine on PC, games like DayZ standalone, shroud of the avatar and more, I can also easily let a cryptocurrency miner run for hours without any problem. I disabled GeForce experience while running wurm earlier and will see if that works after I finish my nightshift. Maybe that causes problems? Last night my monitor fell into powersafe mode without the sound error things and couldn't get it on again. Once again, only worked after a total reboot. Weirdest thing is that wurm runs for 5-7 mins and temps are perfect and then computer just decides to throw the screen to black or just blatantly crashes lol I'll try to lower some settings in wurm Options later on too, I'll keep u updated Cheers
Posted June 26, 2018 Oh and btw: a few months ago I had my irl buddy put in 8GB extra RAM in the PC so it went from 8 to 16 and he cleaned the PC from dust while he was installing that...
Posted June 27, 2018 Ok I think I got it. When you update Java, normally you have to uninstall the old Java versions. Their should be an option for this on the Java site. It looks like what's happening is the game is seeing part of the old version and trying to use that, but cannot because it's not all there. I could be wrong, but it seems to all line up. Once again, only worked after a total reboot. This .,. actually makes me wonder if it might be a failing power supply unit. ... Is this like an HP or storebrand computer? Did you add the GTX760 after purchasing the computer? Or is it custom built from start to finish? If it is an HP computer (well, any national brand) and you added the GTX760 yourself later, (most HP's are not built for highend gaming cards) it might have been pushing and pushing the PSU gradually for a long time and is now on a downward spiral. The GTX760 is a -great- older card but it is more power hungry than some other newer cards in its class. It's more likely to happen on systems where the user upgraded the videocard themselves, but it can even happen in gaming systems' that shipped with it. Even if you have a 750+ watt psu you also put in,, if it is a cheaper brand, it might run fine for a year or two then start to fail. I believe the GTX760 requires 30 amps on the 12v rail, which is VERY demanding. It could even happen with a custom system and a very high grade power supply -- power supplies sometimes just give out after a period, even very good ones. I am not sure of any =simple= way to check for a PSU issue (other than putting in a better PSU and see if it stops, which may not be ideal for you). Some other ideas on that here. If you are desperate, on a budget, and need to "try anything," this is a lowcost but high specced PSU that should handle that card fine (62 amps on a single rail). There are even better ones but they usually cost two or three times as much. Your friend who upgraded your ram, assuming they are a hardware junkie, may also be in a position to pop in a "loaner" PSU just to try for a few days and see if that is the issue. In fact, this is the best thing to try. If you can pinpoint it to a failing PSU, it will be easier to shop around for the best deal. Hardware junkies sometimes have multiple computer parts laying around jist for testing etc. If you want me to poke around on this, look on the back of the computer and see whether it gives any model number for the power supply (more than watts is important), or if it is an off the shelf computer you upgraded, the model number of the computer itself (ie, Pavillion 570 p055qe) It's also possible the graphics card itself is failing, even if it seems ok so far in other games. GTX760 was released five years ago, even if yours is not that old, it is getting older based on the rest of the hardware (all good choices, just slightly older hardware) If it is a failing card or PSU, eventually it will happen in ALL games, probably slowly escalating over the next few months. Mining cryptocurrencies probably doesn't help much if the system was already under any stress, so I probably would not do that for now till you figure out what the issue is. If everything passes tests you can go back to it. Your friend might be able to test this by 1) swapping in a different PSU 2) swapping in a different less power hungry graphics card, on a testing basis, and see if either of those suddenly makes the issue go away. That way you know what to replace without blindly spending money on new hardware parts. See also this thread since the problem started not too long after upgrading your ram. Maybe have the friend remove the "new" ram for a test and see whether it actually runs better on just the old sticks. Even if you don;t have issues in other games. It might surface first in games that actually use the most ram. I could be wrong about all of this, so take it with a big ol' grain of salt. I tend to think things like GeForce Experience are tools of the devil so yes that could also be the issue. Here's what others say about that.
Posted June 27, 2018 Computer was build from scratch by the company i ordered the parts at (at the time my friend picked the items and made the company assemble it). Azerty is the name of the company, one of the best hardware sites in Holland. The RAM update happened months ago and my wurm issues suffer only since a week or 2 so i am pretty sure this cant be the problem. All drivers are updated atm, Geforce experience is toggled off and i changed some wurm settings but no success yet. I crash in a few minutes (monitor swaps to power safe mode and after a reboot everything works again) Well anyways, thanks a lot for all of u trying to help but it seems im out of options untill i buy a new computer
Posted June 27, 2018 You could also try a different NVidia driver. The one you have now (the newest) is about 2-3 weels old, which is right about the time you say you started having issues with wurm. Maybe that driver has issues with a small subset of hardware in a small subset of games.
Posted July 1, 2018 Update: still cant play wurm haha Now u guys probably understand why I am a console pvper in heart lol
Posted July 2, 2018 May be completely unrelated, but I had a similar issue some time back - screen would randomly drop out or corrupt. It turned out to be a failing graphics card, despite everything checking out fine and temps all being good - once I replaced the GPU, it was all good again. Posted December 16, 2018 According to some PC technician friends the problem lies with my power supply (Voeding in dutch), when my computer boots up a game (anything else then a browser surf) my power supply goes to higher power and then automatically shuts to power save mode and shut down my PC while producing weird sounds and everything just stops. Is this possible wurm friends :)?
Posted December 16, 2018 (edited) Definitely sounds like it could be a failing PSU if it's happening with other programs and not just Wurm. Unfortunately PSU's are very finicky and you'll need to purchase a device to test it, or do some DIY to find if that is indeed the issue. Posted December 16, 2018 Yes that's very possible that the higher power draw as everything kicks up a gear is causing it to fail.
