Game giving trouble again

Recommended Posts

I made a post a few days ago specifying that I was having issues with starting Wurm. I have the latest version of java installed, however the game has reverted to the point where once again when I press the play button on the Wurm website to start the client I get the "Unable to start application" message. I apologize if I sound like a broken record, however I was wondering if there was any way to permanently fix this. I've searched several other threads similar to this topic and they all seem to end with most just abandoning the game altogether. Anyway, if anyone could help me with this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Specs:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Intel(R) HD Graphics 530

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

Here's what I see:

I feel like I'm running in a circle, but now I've gotten past the "Unable to launch application" message and now I'm back to where when I press play on the website I get a screen saying "This seems to be your first time playing," and that's it. Perhaps this'll be an easier fix?

This (as well as your previous problems) seem to be network-related. Did you tried checking if your AV program blocks the connection? There might be a malicious program blocking connections, too. Both of these options are worth checking.

This problem looks similar to the one posted here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16373906/address-family-not-supported-by-protocol-family-socketexception-on-a-specific

Please keep in mind that changing Java version is very unlikely to help here, through (you should be fine as long as you have latest Java 8 installed).

This doesn't seem to help the situation. I used the suggestions available in the link however none of them got me past the page that says "This seems to be your first time playing." I also tried disabling my AV software and checked my computer over for any malicious programs, but came up empty. I wonder why my computer in particular is giving me so many problems?

EDIT: Again, I don't know why, but the game started to work. If I have any more issues with the client I'll refrain from reposting on the forums and message an admin/mod directly. I appreciate the assistance I've gotten from the community, and I'm looking forward to getting back in-game.
