horses and unicorns dropping like flies

so i reinstalled wurm a few nights ago, loaded up an old save, did the database update required to load it, and today i've come across 2 dead unicorns and maybe 3 dead horses, is this norm, is something awry here, i dont have any in stock yards or anything, i just find them on my many explorations..

If they are venerable, they can drop dead out in the wild and it is not uncommon to come across a number of them.  

 

Next time check the corpse and see what it shows the age as,

yup they were venerable i'm finding alot of "adolscent boars" as well dropping off their perch so to speak

Boars are a deity animal and die off at a much younger age  (in fact, that link might look familiar ;) )  Chickens get I think to aged (unless cared for). Both of those, it is quite common to find "dead of natural causes".

 

Some animals live to venerable but some have shorter lifespans.
