Allow proximity "pickup permission" to highest two friend category only

Currently anybody who is on your friend list, regardless the category can pick up items in your proximity - even "other" and "contact" accounts in your friend list.

I feel this is misleading and a potential risk as for any other permissions only Friends and Trusted Friends show up.

As per staff information currently it is working as intended, my suggestion is to restrict all permissions to the "Friends" and "Trusted Friends" categories, as Contacts and Other were considered as informal friend categories without any effect.

+1 It should be made clear and obvious, and possible to determine, who should or shouldn't be able to take your proximity stuff at the very least.

It's not friends he's referring to, it's contacts and trade partners whom one might deal with on occasion, but not fully know or trust. The Friend's List has several categories to distinguish this from trusted friends. Jaz is pointing out the inconsistency.

Yes, suggestion is only for the lowest 2 categories on friend list and obviously have any relevance on PVE only.

Those are considered to be an address book only - like for people you have business and want them to see you online or for whatever reason but not friends you trust. Current setup is like your dentist, groceries delivery guy, hairdresser, the family across the street would have access to your car's trunk if they are in your phone contact list.

 

What's wrong with the current way?

For example if you are on an event, and drop your rug to meditate, anyone on your list can just pick it up and run away with it. Or someone offers weapon imps on a public slaying, you put your stuff in the orge and stay around to keep it safe. The same anyone from your list can just pick it up from the forge.

 

BTW, if you want to allow anyone to temporary have access to your items in your proximity, simply team up with them. Teams already remove the proximity protection.
