Posted November 5, 2017 First off - thank you devs! - I'm having too much fun with the new skills and have uncovered lots and lots of fragments. Some of them are going to take a long time to find enough to restore the whole thing and the fragments take decay in storage, even on deed. Not sure if it's already being planned or not but some way to store the fragments are going to be essential down the line! Something unique for archaeology, similar to the alchemist cupboard for dyes, themed appropriately (maybe like a display cabinet?) as I know of a number of people who's made dedicated buildings for archaeology already 13 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Posted November 5, 2017 That's right, I'm planning my own Archeology Office and I'd love to have possibility to storage it, or even display. Also it doesn't make so much sense, that fragments were laying in the ground for years, maybe ages! Posted November 5, 2017 I was considering that maybe we ould preserve identified fragments - until the completion of an item - wrapping them in some sort of waxed paper (/me looks sad at her useless 3k beeswax in the bsb and counting), and for extra protection, stored in a container like Kasumi and the rest of people suggested, an Archaeologist cupboard for fragments, display cases for finished smaller products. There can be even more added to it, complete a series of objects and place them in display cases, and get a bonus of some sort / a special look for the room / a plaque or something .. endless possibilities here. Posted November 6, 2017 I wholeheartedly support having a storage 'display case' that would only be able to hold only fragments (both unidentified and ones identified but not completely combined yet) with very low or no decay while they're in it. Perhaps the no decay inside case would be for on-deed only to lessen any database issues. The max storage wouldb e 100 items, just like any other non-bin container. Some fragments require just too many parts to combine or are rare enough that they won't be all found in enough time before decay that some container like this lessening or halting their decay is very necessary. In the meantime, I've heard some players are creating storage alts for this purpose. There should be no need to have that as the only option. Until then, it looks like I'll have to keep my fragments in a backpack and pick it up to have it in my inventory when I log off as the having in inventory-preventing decay does work with archaeology fragments. But please, it's alot more interesting for the whole archaeology concept in Wurm Online to have a display cabinet for them so your collection can be viewed by others whether you're logged off or not without a high risk of decay. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I found the alchemists cupboard to be virtually useless for storing my dyes, as most of the batchs I make and want to keep are far more than the containers inside the cabinet hold. On the other hand, the size of this cupboard is ideal for storing the half a dozen or dozen fragments you would actually want to keep as you slowly find more bits to add to them and this would make perfectly good sense. Posted November 6, 2017 Low, flat, glass-topped display cases are standard for displaying real life artifacts. something similar for Wurm could be cool. Posted November 9, 2017 Such a fun new feature, (kinda like scratching off lottery tickets, lol). Shame it's slightly marred by this little annoyance. I understand the need for decay on fragments if dropped in the wild or we'd soon have the lands littered with perma-frag piles. On the other hand, it's a real drag to have our fragments just decaying away so fast. Not everyone can do archaeology all day every day to get more to combine em so they sit there and decay away. I know most of them are junk but it's still a drag. Archaeology should include preservation, as well as discovery and restoration. And I've already got a few frags of things I want to keep, that need an exorbitant number of pieces and so will take forever to get them all. Guess it's time to make a couple more free alts to stand around in my archaeology house. lol. +1. This kind of stuff is why bulk storage was added to begin with. well you could assemble that parts as you get them, but as a friend pointed out this makes it hard to trade parts piece for piece so I can see why a need for a 1k storage cupboard is needed plus I just went through my friends wagon of rafts and back packs the other night, thousands of parts sitting there decaying and pulled out 500 parts just for tools/weapons/amor so we really do need mass storage cupboards with many shelves 8) display cases!
