Can males really not pass on conditions?

Recommended Posts

I've been told by multiple people that males can't pass on conditions, that they increase the chance, but the chance only exists if there is a female with the desired condition to breed with. I've just spoken to someone who has bred a champ crocodile from a champ male and an ordinary female. Did this used to be possible and it was changed? Or perhaps it's always been possible, but the chance with only a male is so much smaller that most people just think it's impossible?

There is a chance from what I understand, however the chance becomes greater if both male and female have the trait or prefix(s) that you are trying to breed them for.

As to a specific % chance for the trait to carry over I do not know.

So does that mean if I breed a male slow dog with a female champion, I'll have a chance at getting a champion, slow or normal offspring?

I would not trust the information unless a dev confirms it.  When I was breeding various champion animals, the mother had to be champion.  If the father was champion and the mother was not, it was not a very very small chance -- it was ZERO chance.

It might be something that changed. I am not aware of it changing, but they do sneak in little changes now and then. If you bred a male slow male dog with a female champion, you'd end up with either a champion or normal dog but not a slow.

Wiki is not always 100 percent right on all things, but it does agree on this:

Animals can be bred with a condition only from breeding a female animal with the desired condition. If the male animal also has the condition it may have a greater chance of being passed on to the offspring.

It is also not a 100% chance to get the same condition in the baby, as I have a champion wildcat female and still got a normal baby (dad was a normal cat).

I can confirm, only female can pass the condition to the offspring. Passed condition is either the same as the female or none at all.

Ok thank you very much.  Also that the wiki was correct.  I will make sure the Animal Breeders on the WU server I am on know it has been verified as well that only the female matters when breeding.
