Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) Well, it would seem that making black dye is still broken - or at least so RNG'd as to make it virtually impossible to make high ql dye. I have 79 natural substances skill and 45+ alchemy skill, but: Using over 90 x 81ql acorns, tannin resulting over 70ql was less than 1 in 10 Using over 75 x 87ql iron lumps and the 50-70+ql tannin, the black dye results were: 15kg of 73ql black dye and 17kg of 53ql black dye. 73ql black dye is R23, G23, B23 = dark grey not black 53ql black dye is R43, G43, B43 = grey and not black This is RNG at its worst and would suggest to the new Dev team: PLEASE to look into this - you have done such a great job on other RNG actions like beverage making - please do do look into this. Pleeeeeaaase. Edited October 28, 2017 by Baloo
Posted October 2, 2017 Its not RNG, black dye has 40 difficulty, equal to mining gold, so it's just a difficult thing to do. You essentially want to make tannin as high ql as you can, and mix in large amounts so if you get it right, you get the full amount.
Posted October 2, 2017 In terms of RGB, Black quickly turns into a gray. If the quality of black dye is directly proportional to the RGB values, then i would see why black is super difficult to get. But what is your suggestion? Bump up the darkness, or change the function on making black dye to act like the epic curve? If you use the same function for the epic curve, 70ql will get you -> 2(70)-(70/10)^2 = 140-49 = 91ql <- the same color as what is currently 91ql. Either way, If its that difficult to make black dye then +1. There comes a point where an accessory shouldn't be that much of a hassle.
