Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) I have been trying to make a map, finally something was made but it is bumpy, around rivers mostly. Used Wgenerator 2.8 like this http://prntscr.com/gkrh2x http://prntscr.com/gkri3f http://prntscr.com/gkrk6f seashore doesn't look bumpy http://prntscr.com/gkrj36 here is whole map : ( if u have tips tell me, doing for pve server) http://prntscr.com/gkrigf Edited September 13, 2017 by Martynas5 program used for map generation
Posted September 13, 2017 I have the same issue when trying to make a map. Just can't seem to get it smooth.
Posted September 13, 2017 Increase the iterations on Erosion.
Posted September 14, 2017 I had the same problem and increasing erosion did other weird things, so I ended up using a program called Scape, to smooth everything out and my results were fantastic. I had to use a tool in scape to choose where to smooth it. I can ride a horse almost anywhere on my map.

(Edit: http://www.decarpentier.nl/scape ) What he said.... may take a moment to figure it out as it's kinda rudimentary but once you got it, it's da bomb. Was able to carve out monuntain paths where the map would be otherwise segmented, a lil valley, rivers. Check out the tundra near the center, has a nice side by side "smoothed vs unsmoothed". Posted September 24, 2017 By the way, a couple of pointers. That map actually got a bit boring fast, so odd as it sounds, I ended up manually roughing the terrain back up a bit. Scape has options to do things with CPU and GPU. For smoothing, and "pencil" (simple raise/lower) I use GPU, for roughing terrain I used CPU. I got a feeling that it's really gonna depend on one's rig (educated guess) so do trial and error a lot with Scape. The other thing, slopes on Scape are gonna look a lot steeper on Scape than what actually comes out in game, specially after you add the dirt so don't panic if you end up redoing your map several times. Map making does take some patience. Here's the roughened version of the above map for comparison: Now SOME areas are the original smoothed out version. Others look unrideable from the map but bear in mind it's 16x16km. On the ground I know have some fairly rough terrain, but still rideable for sure. As for the forests, I seeded individual species using the paint option in wgenerator. Did them with densities of 18ish, really sparse, several instances, that allowed me to mix species. To thicken up the forests now I'll run the server for a week or two with tree growth set to 1 or 2 so the spread fast, then bring it back down to 3 or 4 to mimic WO a bit. Hope at least one of my tips helps someone. Good luck!
