Just threw a ton of stuff into my new storage rack, and now my forge/storage room looks less like a yard sale. Yay! Thanks, devs.

Why the decay hit for.....

Storage unit

  • Created using Carpentry.
  • Has 3 racks which can hold large items like fishing rods, and saddles.
  • Does not slow decay.

It has the same decay  protection as every other container you can build, the "does not slow decay" is referring to the larder and alchemist's cupboard special decay reduction

Sorry galadhel, I missed your question, it's being looked into, not sure yet

so the new horse shoes (silver, havent tested the gold ones yet) are created using the jewelery smithing skill, but are imped by using the blacksmithing skill. is this working as intended or is this a bug ?

It's a bug (mea culpa), and there's a fix in place; it should go live in the next day or 2.

Might want to add to the post that Both genders can now summon skeletons and wraiths, not one or the other. :)

would be nice if we could store alchemy products like potions, oils, ointments, salves, covers in a...  alchemists cupboard?

First of all thanks for great update !

But I agree with Skyhawk and others, seems like alchemist cupboard pretty useless, if we could store more alchemy items in it that would be great.

Also regarding storage unit, maybe it is possible to allow us to store there also carpets ( as Mavv suggested in other post ), decorations and furniture. More about such and other suggestion posted here !

I do have to give props for the large storage unit, that's a keeper.  =)

The alchemy cupboard is really useful for storing scraps of liquids after a cooking run - I always end up with random little bits of oil or fruit juice in jars in my oven.  It looks a little out of place in a kitchen, but aside from that, it's really useful.  It's basically a larder for liquids, that doesn't need snow.

Animations look great, keep em coming!

As to the new storage, they do look great as furniture pieces and it's always nice to have more (specialised) storage items in general, but they also disappoint/annoy me a bit.  Why is the storage used for large items like saddles and fishing poles a set of shelves with smaller boxes on?  the form has no bearing on the function; there is no logical visual reason why large items should fit in and not in a crate or bsb.  Likewise with the alchemy bench, it looks awesome as a model, but why is it styled like a sideboard? Surely it should have racks of little bottles or something to reflect what it actually does....

tl;dr new models look great, thanks, but don't visually reflect what they do.

1.3 changed how planted items decayed, and wand of the seas was affected by those changes, the bug has only existed since 1.3 and thus hasn't been noticeable, was only found by confirming code for kingdom influence and such.

I personally reported the bug to Keenan before while citing the exact lines of code causing the issue, along with the explanation that it unplanting at 70 damage was the reason for the rod to continue to decay to its destruction while never creating an island.  This was a very long time ago.  The issue was not related to kingdom influence and I was able to easily correct it with a small mod in wu.

Those *shelves* will store 100 large items each and can also be labeled individually. I have one *shelf* filled with 100 iron lamps. A very nice setup for mass large item storage. I guess the large items mentioned of fishing poles and saddles are just an example as they formerly were restricted to storing in a few containers. Be creative and think beyond that with also a 300 item capacity and I think you will appreciate their storage opportunities.

oh absolutely, don't get me wrong, I love the addition of new storage options, I don't have an issue with the mechanics.  I just thought, based on the description, the model was a mismatch.  But you make a good point about the fishing rod being an example and not the key intended item to store.  But still, I want a fishing pole rack and the alchemy bench should have more bottles :P
