[Fixed] Unintended Strongwall/Cave Functionality + Example for use

Recommended Posts

Can be used to tunnel into secure, fully reinforced mines. This may be able to bypass deed permission settings if they limit based on the tile you are standing on rather than the tile you are trying to do an action on

Temporary fix is to always have an item on the tile, on freedom, and on PvP you are SOL regardless because you can use the below to take anything from the mine on the adjacent red tiles or push things out of the way in order to let you do the above.

As an added bug, you can use the blue tiles by mining down the floor adjacent to the red mine to allow you to get a lot of speed by falling, which will just warp you into the red mine. This has been reported before, and is severe, but has not been fixed in a years time so i figure id post it publicly now. This happens accidentally with deeds with very peculiar mine plans too, and is a frustrating issue by itself even if you ignore the PvP implications of its use.

can i get summer hat thnx, ill also take clairvoyant 2 im not complaining

If you double strong wall, meaning do one layer of strongwall, reform the walls and do a second layer of strongwalls, is that enough to stop it too?

Correct, somewhat.

The only way to get around this, albeit complicated but possible, would be to remove enemy kingdom presence in the area such as towers, build your own as close as possible, be path of power and have the area in mag influence, and erupt an adjacent reinforced tile from the surface on serverup before influence is calculated and disintegrate the lava tile from underground, which would put you in a scenario similar to the pictures.

Although, this would require an almost perfect situation, which i don't really see happening outside of a testing ground, but, it is possible for what it's worth.

However, even double reinforced mines may not stop you from being able to warp in if you get enough speed with enough latency. Youd need to jump off like a dirt spike into a mine pit with at least like ~100ms for that to work id imagine though.

Client lag or server lag (meaning if I cause my client to have 100 ms of lag could I trigger it? (Now I am indulging my curiousity of whether the client or server is controlling in this case - hoping for the server).

I am guessing that a triple strongwall layer would remove the risk - good thing Vanaheim had a seven layer strongwall donut all the way around the safe mines.

Interesting question, worth testing. I was going off of the latency to the server.

To completely stop it till a fix is done would require a mine between the performer and target (player casting spell and tile). Player actions and location limitations are server side not client.

i would like a sentence from staff, gms or devs, wouldnt using this be an exploit, and as such

punishable in some way? needs to be addressed with more than just "added to bug list", i think.

This would be nice, i think the simplest and most bandaid solution i can think of would be to prevent players from walking out of mines if it has a minedoor on it, similar to the way you can not walk into one. It should prevent malicious use of the more extreme bug (warping into a mine). At least on PvP servers, as even though you can recall or karma out, you have the ability to keep an enemy presence there to prevent this. However, as this is very easy to reproduce accidentally, it could cause issues on freedom where players fall into a mine and will need to hail a GM for freedom.

Just throwing out ideas.
