Sleeping Creatures

Animals and monsters that actually sleep.

What happens is thus

Mouse over creature.

Mature Huge Spider [sleeping] (Different model for the creature, breathing animation?)

What this does

Reduces the Creatures Aggressive Range to jsut 1 or 2 tiles

Allows you to Stealth up behind the creature

Attacking a creature whilst it's asleep gives you a definate hit for the first blow unless using a bow.

Allows for more Nocturnal animals to be more active during the night and none roaming at night etc.

Have seen this used elsewhere and loved it, suddenly it gave you a reason to travel at night. They also had areas with creatures that only spawned between certain nightime hours and would despwan in the morning unless engaged in battle.

Currently it is so dark at night in wurm that you might as well stay in your house or log out till morning. Sleeping and night spawn creatures would help change this, as would adding light from the moons of course... they could use the textures from the halloween guards for some of the night spawn creatures!

anyway there are alot of enjoyable aspects from other places that could be drawn into wild, to add to the terraform and construction aspects that makes it unique...and would help keep it unique even with similarities in other areas to other mmos

You have a good idea there FullKontact; I would have loved having it before the nerfing of creatures. Now not so much. Maybe if they bring back the danger of creatures then. . . .

Having such creatures as spiders and wolves being more active and roaming (hunting?) during nighttime would be really cool!

Animal strength needs to be boosted overall for that, however..

Just 1 suggestion:

An animal woken from sleep becomes very angry and does more damage? Say 2x more?

Certainly would make stealth more useful, seems rather useless now.

makes moving along the highways at night so much easier, means I don't have to try and outrun bears, goblins, etc.

I'd think it should do less, first of all its tactical, second, when you just wake up, do you feel like fighting?

I would just like to have not everything want to automatically want to kill you.

This seems to be a decent way to accomplish that.

Most predators are Nocturnal.. so it actually could make it worse.

I couldn't work out why couldn't find the heart button until I saw 2008.  

 

There are a number of special conditions for animals (raging, scared, etc) so why not sleeping?  It makes sense.

I think that's a guest thing. None of the names with guest have that option.
