Posted December 2, 2016 Allow us to farm kelp like reed its needed for cooking now.
Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) You can, kind of, but it takes a bit of careful planning. You can carefully raise a kelp bed so that the kelp is on the side of a slope of a tile you can walk on. Of course, this isn't via planting it, but with careful 1 tile away raising, you can create a farm out of a natural spawn so that you don't need to swim to harvest it and it is renewable. However, +1 to kelp seeds. In the meantime, try raising a natural spot so it is more manageable. Edited December 2, 2016 by Audrel LMAO autocorrect nightmare just happened! Posted December 2, 2016 This would be good, but I have to wonder if it wouldn't be better for us to be able to plant "natural" reed and kelp tiles, and harvest them the way we would with the wild variety.
Posted December 2, 2016 +1 if some kind of paddy option were added to grow these on mountains

Posted March 4, 2017 maybe kelp could be grown at a deeper depth? Definately agree some sort of farming option should be available.
Posted March 4, 2017 +1 I would love to have my reed/rice farm be a reed/rice/kelp farm
Posted March 4, 2017 Can we get two versions? I would love to plant it like a crop and like flowers(or that how the wild stuff could work). Sea bed is dead and I hate the look of marsh. Yes I would be that random person planting everywhere I could find it.

Couldn't think of why at first, but yes, it seems kelp is usually completely submerged. I made a water field for rice/kelp/reed(how I learned kelp can't be planted). It wouldn't be hard to have tiles in the middle be deeper to accommodate kelp. Would look pretty cool I think.
Posted March 4, 2017 Have kelp spread like trees as long as the highest corner of the dirt or sand tile is below X depth.
