Plague of 1062

Recommended Posts

Hey homies from wurm,

I read the recent topic made by enki 3 times now and still dont understand what it means coz the english used in this topic goes a bridge to far for a simple dutch guy. Can someone explain me what this topic means in childish language.

Thanks in advance.

Loren

Basically some people got banned for accessing accounts they should not have accessed. Anyone, or any accounts, associated with them was banned as well. Accounts will be unbanned on a case-by-case basis depending who the owner of the account is.

No that is not exactly it, some were banned for what Xallo said plus cause a bunch of things they did outside of the game.

The word that keeps coming back in convos is "meta gaming".

I suppose the people that were struck will find someway to tell more in the future without breaking any forum rules.

There is more info in the Skirmish topic for Chaos.

Would it be possible to have all names of this plague posted? In the PSA there's mention of other toxic players were also banned just because. Obviously that is truly not the case and the just because was because of actual reasons. It would be nice to know who was banned and just like the short detail showing the 3 names banned for hacking the same 1 line detail for the other banned players would be nice. It might paint the picture of things not to do such as deliberately cause ill intent towards PVEers and pve deeds and so on.

There use to be full lists once upon a time many, many moons ago.

Nowadays, the GMs do not do such for various reasons, and I can actually agree with some of those reasons.

Sometimes the offenders actually correct their ways, and it allows for starting fresh.

On occasion people would commit offences just for the notoriety for getting on said lists. I honestly would probably do similar; though, it would depend on the offense persay. Someone would have to be holding a shotgun at me or mine, before Id even consider doing what these smucks did.

here is what happened in a nutshell!

a kingdom was sharing alot of accounts, and someone from another kingdom gained access to these shared accounts outside of wurm, codeclub, and anything affiliated with wurm or codeclub.... then enki banned the people who gained access to these shared accounts

then enki said:

IM GOING TO BAN THESE GUYS FOR MESSING WITH SHARED ACCOUNTS BUT WE DONT OFFER SUPPORT FOR DMG INCURRED DUE TO ACCOUNT SHARING....

seems pretty fishy to me?

You forgot to mention how the said info was used to coup their deeds ingame, resizing etc, steal their items and toons and and even harassing family of players on facebook.

and this has what to do with offering support for account sharing, then openly saying "WE WILL NOT OFFER SUPPORT FOR ACCOUNT SHARING"?

Edit: instead of offering support all these shared accounts should have just been banned

Hacking is not creative.

Spying in any sort of way is also not creative in an MMO. IRL you would have consequences but in a game there is none. It should be a rule against it by the GM team as well as the rest of this going in. Play the game its meant to be played for enjoyment not ill intent.

Code Club isn't liable for damage caused by shared accounts. This is not incompatible with the idea that they can still ban people for being incredibly abusive to other players.

It's like russia spying on muriga or vice versa, pvp games are meant to be played to its fullest, which means a full out (virtual) war

The only thing I don't agree with was name and shame on 3 people banned but not the rest. If you are going to name the people banned name them all.

The real story:

Dingov, Mechanic, and Mattown, through some means of social engineering, or cookie hijacking, managed to get one of our private forums global moderators passwords. They then used this account to change the passwords of near enough every single account on the forums and accessed each one. In some cases, shared accounts passwords were on messages shared between forum accounts..

These nasty players, then logged into these accounts, changed their passwords and emails, and stole everything on them. They even went as far as logging into mayors and removing all settings/removing upkeep so they would disband quicker for their kingdom.

The worst part about it all for me, was that they used the account to see our members private emails, and signed them up to porn and other nasty services and worst of all, imitated someones ill dad on facebook (copied all his pictures and everything) in an attempt to add our member on facebook to get details of god know what. Absolutely sickening.
