Noob question re server

Recommended Posts

I just bought the game and want to start a server where I am initially on my own to browse around and try things out. So anyway, how do I start my own server?

What is a 'dedicated' server? On Ark it was easy to work out but here there are so many options I don't know if I am coming or going.

thanks for your help

Thanks a lot for your help. I think maybe this is not the game for me, better ask for a refund. I have no idea of how to do a "Network Configuration " nor to "open" all of the "ports needed to be opened".

I am just an elderly Accountant and don't have any kind of computer technology higher education, just University.

Check out the Wurm Unlimited section of these forums. Your answers can usually be found there. Also, the things you mentioned are done automatically once you open the private server Icon. You can even just load the game on the Steam website where you purchase it and it will open a tab that lists all the Public servers that are free to checkout to see if the game appeals to you in any way. You can try things out at no additional charge on these servers then later decide to create your own on your computer if desired.

You don't need to know any of that to just play the game, either on a server that someone else runs, or on your own local server (with just yourself). There are plenty of active public servers that welcome new players.
