WOM Model Viewer 1.4

WOM Model Viewer

1.4 - 16.01.2019

WOM Model Viewer is a very simple viewer of models in WOM format. It should be able to load all Wurm models.

I created it to help me with DeedPlanner debugging (as programs like Blender are unable to load Wurm models anymore for obvious reason), but - as it might be useful for someone else - I am publishing it.

I haven't downloaded this but i have a initial concern after seeing zeke's posts:

Viewing models like guard towers could become problematic if you aren't able to do a full 360 or even just move the camera around

And viewing small models like potato could be SUPER small and tiny, making it impossible to tell if the model actually loaded or what it looks like. Sooo Zoom? Not sure if its in there already~

Zoom is in, I need to play around with max zoom out and more fluid zoom though.

Ok, version 1.2 released:

  • Removed most camera limitations
  • After loading model, camera will center on its central point
  • Light follows camera instead of being fixed
  • Fixed loading of models with bounding boxes

Version 1.3 released, models with bounding boxes should work properly now.

(note to myself - Unity handles shader export in a really weird way when building the project :D )

From technical point of view, Unity exports bare minimum shader data it needs for the program to run, but offers all shaders when debugging directly in editor - to force Unity to export given shader configuration, you MUST include it as a resource in project (even if it is not used directly like in case of this program).

You mean different texture displayed on currently displayed model? Not really, this is out of scope of this program. :)

Textures with transparency are using texture format which is unsupported by Unity - I would need to write custom importer to support them. (this is what I would like to do when I will have more time)

The dropbox link monster strikes again, the links aren't so linky right now.

Thanks for noticing, all links updated! :)

Dropbox monster strikes again... Interesting how many things in the internet got broke because of recent changes.

Version 1.4 released:

  • added support for transparent textures
  • modernized the open file dialog

That's most likely the final version of the program except potential bugfixes or minor QoL changes. :)
