Posted September 30, 2016 Winter discussions sound like many people not having set their monitor settings correctly. It is also the most beautiful season and a welcoming change from the dull green of endless summers. Seasons need to be more of equal lenght instead.
Posted September 30, 2016 Everyone has their favorite season. Mine happens to be spring. That said you should not have to adjust your monitor settings for each season or even for day/night. That is ridiculous!
Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) I'd list the long list of suggestion threads but there's been so many on this topic. (edit-listed below) Monitor settings get changed regularly, dependent upon source... especially on the 4k sets. it's still very bland compared to no snow and we need snow shovels. ..it's not a case of preferring seasons.. snow sparkles in the light. I prefer snow. but not in WO. there's no particle glisten, no footprints, no decal memory, etc. imo snow shovels would offer a great compromise. http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/143087-snow-shovels/http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/111913-be-able-to-remove-snow-from-paved-walking-areas/ http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/64656-too-much-snow/ http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/103687-snow-removal-from-tiles/http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/138715-sparkly-snow/http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/100889-tracks-in-the-snow/http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/106708-tone-down-winter-please/http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/126359-walking-in-a-winter-wonderland-nah-lets-shovel-it-away/ There, i think i'm done.. probably missed a few. how many more do we need? Then, well wear just theese sunglasses while you play Wurm and you are set ;-) . -1 I love Wurm Winter and like it to travel in this season, and to hunt. I wouldnt build a street or pave my deeds in Wurm Winter but that wouldnt someone do in RL-Winter too. Same arguments could be brought up with nights, which could be shorter for my personal taste, but no, not really an issue. I know this picture is an old hat... Posted October 2, 2016 It seems to me that the only reason people are protesting against the optional winter is because they are having problems wrapping their head around the fact that winter does not look the same on all screens. Once you get off the egocentric take of the game graphics it's really quite simple: The game's practically unplayable for some people during winter. And NO it's not a setting they can change so stop insisting it is simply because you're clueless, some of the people you're telling to fix their screens were programming before you were even born. A friend logged off every time it was winter in-game and told me it was because it hurts. I took his word for it but I couldn't imagine what it looked like since I don't have that problem on my screen, and no screenshot could convey it properly even though I could clearly see in his screenshots that it looked a lot worse than on my screen. Then one day when I was at his place he logged into the game during winter to let me see what it looked like, and after seeing what he has to put up with every winter in the game I honestly don't understand why he keeps playing - It was that awful. So to all you people calling them whiners: Try to see outside your own world for a second.
Posted October 3, 2016 i hate the winter packs, but anyone saying it's too bright probably forgot to turn their gamma down after nighty night :^)

Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) I ###### love winter. Improve, yes. Remove? And forever lose your seat at Valhalla? Ask yourself. Is it worth it? Edited October 3, 2016 by Makarus turn bloom off. what are you, touched?
Posted October 3, 2016 I don't like winter, still, i don't think it's a good idea to just remove it, having winter, if you don't like it, just reminds us of how good is to be back to the others seasons, i feel it gives more survival immersion, and being a powerplayer myself i don't still think it should be removed anyway : D Rework maybe? Until then, just deactivate bloom, i don't even keep it in summer, it's just annoying to the eyes.
Posted October 4, 2016 (edited) Meh winter haters. Winter just needs more particle effects that can make you go snowblind! ...dat overhead! Edited October 4, 2016 by Klaa

We'd need the industrial revolution and a century of poor climate choices before global warming starts to affect wurm enough to remove winter though. It's amazed me that wurm has never had/thought of having a wet/cold system.
Posted October 4, 2016 -100 Winter in Wurm is Awesome....leave it alone. And for those players that are saying "Oh it's WAY to bright ...turn it down....TURN IT DOWN !!!".... Lord Shrimpiie said it best.... "The problem is your end". My game on my end looks just fine.....so if it's down to the game how is it not super bright to me and others. ? What i think we are seeing here are gamers that like to boost there Gamma / brightness on there monitors so (in other games when it's dark) they can see in the dark better. Wurm nights are very dark.... which is good in my book, but when Winter comes around ...BOOM... it's super bright. Is this sort of Jiggery Pokery cheating...... me thinks so in my book. I could show screenshot after screenshot of all seasons in Wurm and NONE of them look anything like these over bright screenshots that have been posted here. And b4 anyone says "You must have a low end / crap monitor" sorry guys....mines top of the range. LEAVE WINTER ALONE !!!....and give us better rain.

Or indeed to a lesser impact on PvE... don't see how it matters when a few days later winters over and it's back to rock, but rock being same as snow has a huge impact on trying to even find your mine door without putting signs pointing to it like curbs or something
