chain armor helmet

Recommended Posts

I plead voor a chain helmet that also offers facial protection like their steel counterparts.
Those that wear chain armor lose speed because they often use a steel helmet for better facial protection. A 'closed' helmet with chainmail parts would equalise the speed with the rest of the armorsuit and offers improved protection for the face. What i do in mind is something like this:

Rather just see "face hits" removed and replaced by simply head hits that checks the helmet.

But if thats not an option, then +1 for "chain helmets"

No need to change any mechanics, but always room for more gear choices if only for cosmetics.

Very nice design to that chain helmet. Much better than the current goofy looking ones, so for that alone I am for it.

It looks like they could use the steel open helmet for this and then add some pieces of chainmail to it. I doubt that would be realy hard to implement.

..or add some simple mask to the existing chain-colf and make some people quite happy B)

checked some google images.. can't say I liked any of the trimmed plate helmets with chain curtains on them

I beg your pardon? Please make a comparison within your mind's eye of the two and you may realize that the one pictured above is much more detailed in both a longer more pleasing styling as well as more functional due to covering a larger expanse of previously unprotected area. A masterwork of art in comparison I might say, as well as a good day to you.

I'd rather wear this than a plate helm with chain armour to hide my face.

Or they could let us wear all helms on top of coifs... you know, just like those guys with armour and weapons were doing always. And maybe remove the speed reduction (if it's even still here).

I am sure you noticed I +1 even thou in my personal taste it looks goofy.

And I like my gold coif as it is. It looks awesome on top of my red jacket.

In your personal taste it does not look goofy.

Wearing a tin bucket on the head also look goofy if you ask me.

Still I have worn one on occations.

Ofc a item can be useful even if it looks goofy.

There have been found helmets like this in Sweden, from viking age:

Possibly you also noticed that I put a *Like* on your post. Goofy is as goofy does, which just goes to point to the old adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find that even the imagination can make it more so, since the intrusion of reality is left far behind. At times seriousness can be a terrible thing to behold, which is why I tend to attempt to keep it at bay in situations like this.

And another good day to you as well.

*tips hat*
