Rather refreshing after so many OP'ed mains who have been thrown into unfamiliar surroundings. Granted I really hope he doesn't go the route of Shinji from the first Evangelion. Wanted to just slap him so many times in later episodes... Anyways, it is odd for a supposed "gamer" to not do some degree of research and/or seek to improve his weaknesses. Then again some degree of self-reflection is required. Still the research or "lecture" given to an MC is a traditional storytelling device for introducing the audience to the same unfamiliar surroundings.
