constantly flickering windows and mouse [WU]

i have just bought this game and on no matter what graphics setting i choose my mouse and screen flickers rapidly every time i move to mouse bringing me back to the desktop for half a second, then back to the game, the windowed mode flashes (not responding) as my mouse flickers with the loading circle, I cant click on anything without this happening. also when i walk i glitch in one direction not stopping. fullscreen crashes instantly. how do i make this game playable?

I think it would help if you post some details of your system here, like operating system and graphics card model (if you use one). Monitor model, also which drivers you are using (standard system or custom). 

 

Gives the fundies a place to start thinking.
