I like the idea - could pull the alts into one "family"

Make it so that a character can only take an already "occupied" last name if it is allowed by someone who has it.

Is this just something you pulled out of the air, or did you get this idea from Black Desert Online?

slingshot I'm a old everquest 1 & 2 player ;) surnames where allowed at a certain level just remembered it lol thought Wurm could integrate it as well. Many games have it why not Wurm?

As long as it's an option and not required I'm okay with it.

This is actually very common in games with a large playerbase, and that because lots of name are already taken. In Wurm it should serve another purpose. Why not, +1.

+1  so long as it can move your player name to your Surname and give your player a new first name(One time only for exisiting account if this ever came in).

Hrm... I think 15 would be too limiting, especially given many examples in RL.

I wonder if borrowing from Black Desert Online's setup  where the account characters share the same family name would be helpful, especially since Wurm doesn't really have much in the way of account management.

This would be amazing on Epic.

Many of the members of MR Elite (for example) could share the same surname.

One of the best things about EQ2 - and it's not the only game either.  It would be a great way to personalize WO.  I'd prefer to see it enabled only for WO premium players.  We do need some perks besides having to pay for premium and deed upkeep to set us apart from WU.  Yes, I love the stable servers and our gamer staff but I'd really love being Magykal Jenkins again. ;-) Great idea, Xxx! ;)

This is immediately what came to mind as well but maybe that is because of our playing BDO? Anyway, I don't see much of a benefit for adding this concept into Wurm, so I am not much concerned about it either way but it might have some attraction to others.

There could be some additional lines of info given when examining a player; currently we can see kingdom and settlement identity, so family/clan origin would refine the definition.

'He appears to have [kingdom] blood.'

'He bears the mark of a [role] of [settlement].'

'He displays the crest of [surname].'
