Hi, after making a file and trying opening, WU crashes. It says "Unexpected crash while setting up login The error was: <Could not start SteamApi Shutting down (Steam is not Running)>"

Without file I can run WU normally

I followed the instructions given and the second copy of the client crashes and I get this error.

Unfortunately, the Wurm Online client crashed. The error was: <Failed to initialize Steam API. Make sure Steam is running.>

It's possible you might figure out what's wrong from the log file below, but if you can't, post the full log on the wurm online forums, and someone else might be able to help you.

Contents of temporary launch log:

?So it appear this will not work for me.

In the end I got it to work.

Two things, first, the current Steam App ID is 1179680, and the text file needs named steam_appid (created as a text file) without the .txt.

After I made those two changes it worked. Thanks guys! ??

I run the game on Linux, and this works; but one needs to add steam_Api.so to LD_PRELOAD (or its path to LD_LIBRARY_PATH) to run the game, else it crashes.

So:

	env LD_PRELOAD=./libsteam_api.so ./WurmLauncher

Dang, been trying to get multiple WU clients on Linux Mint working for 2 days now. I'm definitely not a Linux Expert and I'm not really sure what this quoted post means.

I have steam installed and Wurm Unlimited installed with the proton experimental option.
The game runs great. The only issue I have is I don't understand how to launch a second client.
In the Quoted post, is that a desktop launcher shortcut? Do you paste that into the command part of a new launcher? (Since its using ./ I would think this shortcut would have to be in the Wurm Unlimited Launcher directory.
There isn't a libsteam_api.so in the Wurn Unlimited Launcher directory.
Not sure what LD_PRELOAD is or what LD_LIBRARY_PATH is.

All I wanna do is get multiple clients working on my Linux Mint box, lol

Thanks for any help if you can spare some!!

It shouldn't be different on Linux.

Create the file

steam_appid.txt with 366220 in it

If it is not working try to name the file steam_appid instead of steam_appid.txt not sure if that is needed on Linux.

There is a known issue on Linux Mint follow this thread:
