Posted January 16, 2016 There are currently 3 things on pvp servers that encourage a meta that proves detrimental to smaller kingdoms due to a separate balance issue that exists which will be covered in another post. In short remove deed twitter, defence advisor and information minister roles. None of these things have ever done anything to encourage roaming, small scale raiding, small kingdom expansion (with exceptions). The current system is highly abusable and is not fit for purpose. Posted January 16, 2016 I'm an all or nothing kind of guy. The whole point of this is to negate the currently hyperstrong defences that unlived in deeds that are rarely if ever physically checked by either the owner or his/her kingdom mates. A genuine lived in deed will be noticed by it's owner when raided, or in the process of being raided. Twitter and the other bot options only serve to boost the ability of the current strongest kingdom to maintain land area and blocker deeds with minimal investment of effort. Also - what are /who bots and how does adviser and information minister roles create problems? /who bots monitor the server stats such as the player count seen on the forums and check for any sudden jumps by say, 10-20 people (e.g. a knarr of enemies suddenly appearing on the server) and broadcasts a message via irc or other programs to warn players. Theres also the defence advisor role that detects if a tower is being bashed by the enemy and by using a program to read the event logs being stored written to the hard drive its possible to broadcast a warning saying "blah blah tower is being damaged get on" similar to information minister being warned of any enemy player going into your kingdom influence so and similar to the defence advisor can then broadcast a message. By setting up a dedicated server these accounts can be kept online 24/7 and essentially become "bots" to warn an entire kingdom what is happening. Oh, +1 for this, in the past it may not have been such an issue with defence advisor as the message is only every 10 minutes, maybe making it every 20-30 minutes might work as theres no other way of checking towers are being destroyed. This may not be so much the case on epic but just because you may or may not be using an existing meta does not mean that it needs to exist. Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Yep, get rid of Twitter. I'd like to salvage the kingdom title though. First by not showing that info to afk characters, and second by replacing the "xyz enters your territory" thing with something not-overpowered. Maybe entering combat with (killing?) a guard sends a message on a 10 minute delay, like "You receive reports of enemy activity at Fawkes 702." No naming of specific enemies.
