Templar won't enter the mine [Fixed]

I don't know if this is only at my deed or if it's happening to anyone else too. 

 

My templar will not go into the mine.  He spams that he's going to take care of a mob and then hangs out on the surface in fighting stance, above whichever critter he's fixated on at the time. 

 

Meanwhile, he doesn't respond to any other critters on deed in or out of the mine and there is no "village alert" in events. 

 

If I go inside and kill the one under where he's hanging out, he then picks another one in the mine to spam about and repeats his performance on the surface.

 

If I clear the deed of all critters, he will then respond normally for a while if something comes on deed on the surface.  But the minute he gets fixated on something in the mine, that's it until I clear the entire deed again, above and below ground.

 

There are no cave-ins in the mine.  No blocked chambers, etc.  There have been no changes to my deed or to mine doors, etc.

 

I dismissed him and hired another.  The new one is doing the same.

 

This started 3 days ago and I waited a couple days to see if it was a Wurmism, and would clear up by itself.

 

Anyone else having troubles like this lately or know what may be causing it?  Or is this a new bug?

I have also seen this happening just recently on more than one local deed. I looked all over for the creature, but found none. No mine tunnel collapse.

This might sound dumb, Amadee, but have you tried setting permissions for the whole village on the mine doors? I've not seen this bug yet but I do know when a templar spawns, he become a member of the village. It might work as a temporary workaround until it's fixed. It also might not. I'm not sure if their citizenship is the same as a human player villager.

was raiding a deed on jkh and the templar wouldnt enter the mine to attack us, even though we were on deed, so there was no way for us to kill the templar to be able to break deed laws like mining

Interesting thought.  All my mine doors already had all citizens/village allowed but I checked this morning to make sure it was still there.  Nothing changed.

Not complaining unless it was a troll, however, it is an interesting issue and one that has never occurred before. I too will carry out what Audrei suggested and see if I get negative results like you.

Although this issue is related to 'underground' monsters, we noticed a similar incident on the surface the day before we realized the templars were stuck:

 

Spirit templar was spamming local with his attempt to attack a hellhound. The hellhound was reportedly found on a deed bridge where the spirit guard would not engage. Afterward, the templar was quiet for the rest of the evening (no stuck-spam). Didn't think anything of it until the next day when it was happening underground.

I have not seen it with my templar but I did see a couple of them going to the dragon slaying that were still saying they would catch something on my return.  It is interesting they wouldn't engage on a bridge. I can't remember if I have ever seen my templar use any of the bridges. He just runs right down the cliffs. I wonder if they can't stand on them. I can't remember ever seeing one on a 2nd floor of a house either. They would have no need to go up there really. I don't think anything can climb stairs except during that brief bug a while back.

Well now that I know it is a bug and not just something on my deed that I could do something about, I went ahead and dismissed the templar for now.  I'll rehire after the bug is fixed.

 

He's completely useless as-is, (as opposed to next-to-useless as he was before, hehe).  Once he's fixated on something in the mine, he won't respond to anything else and there's no "alert" in events when something else comes on deed. 

 

And while he's busy spamming local, all excited about a large rat, the trolls and hell hounds are coming on deed unannounced anyway and making themselves at home.  lol.  It's the same as having no templar at all, except for the local spam and I'm paying for it, so I figure I'll wait till they're working again.  

 

I do kinda miss having him around though.  He was great as a Yip Dog to let me know when there was a troll or croc lurking about so I could go rescue him from them.

It was happening to me too, and just to add to the reports..

 

At least two creatures somewhere in a mine within local range - causing repeated 'Ill take care of you.. ' messages to spam local every 15-20 seconds.

 

However..  other than the spam and the templar being unable to pathfind to the critters, it caused my FPS to drop to about 4-5 while playing and a rather nasty memory leak.  Wurms memory usage was rising by 50-100 mb every few minutes until eventually the client crashed from memory allocation problems. After about 20 minutes of play (at 5FPS) this meant over 1.5gb of memory used.. This is with nobody else in local, not moving around other than a couple of meters, and just standing inside imping various items.

 

Since the new patch allowing templars to teleport, the spam has stopped. My FPS is back to normal, and memory usage sits around the 600-650 mark.

 

All is good again. However, there is definitely a memory leak problem with the 'non-cave-teleporting' templars.
