Perimeter Decay (Stone House)

Recommended Posts

I don't think decay is working right for off deed houses and fences if it is not bugged then maybe it needs to be looked at because some old buildings i have under my perimeter are decaying really slowly as shown below...

Old deed disbanded = 11-02-2015 at 01:43 AM  (the deed would have been decaying the 30 days before this so since 10-02-2015)

I think there was a bug with super decay.  So accelerated decay was happening on every off deed building. I think that acclerated decay was turned off till it could be fixed

Well, I hope it's fixed soon... I'm waiting on several buildings to drop so a village can be started with my friends.  Been waiting for almost 2 months now, and the decay at this rate will take several more months.... nothing to do really until then....

Well they talked about looking into a way to reshape abandoned land but if the buildings stay for a year or more after a disband then i dont think there is much point in that, lol

This was an old island that i had regretted selling that i had been keeping an eye on for over a year or more to sell/disband and now i am stuck waiting on the buildings to decay. I hope they get that fixed soon. :(

I think i seen Warlander talk about accelerated decay if upkeep is under like 10 days or something and i think that would be a good idea so that all the buildings are gone soon after the deed disbands from upkeep.

I've added this thread to the already opened issue in the bug list regarding current decay rates.  Your original post has hard facts which I appreciate.  Please add to it in a few weeks if the issue hasn't been addressed yet with the current state of the walls if you don't mind.

If the offdeed buildings are on Xanadu, and if they are within the domain of Magranon, there was a Ritual of the Sun cast on Nov 23 that would have repaired all fences and buildings within the domain of Magranon. (There was a previous one cast also, apparently repeated because of the decay that was destroying a lot of off deedbuildings and bridges)

The global spell does NOT repair floors and ceilings, so one way to check if this is the issue is to see whether roofs/floors have a lot of decay but not fences and walls, which all went back to 0 damage on Nov 23  if within Magranon altar domain. You can also check and see if it is nearby, whether it IS magranon's area.

You can track the dates of all serverwide global spells on bdew's site, Too Many Wurms:  http://wurm.bdew.net/spells

The Island is on Pristine and they have not had any cast of that spell listed at all and there is no domain on the island either.

On the abandoned deed that Rivard and I are waiting on, there are 7 two-story buildings that we're waiting to fall.  Two are preventing me from putting the token where I want it, and they are 75 QL stone buildings.  What few walls remain have 90 damage on them, but the roof and wooden plank floor (2nd story) are only at 50 damage.

There's two things that frustrate me about this issue.  First, the GM team refuses to interfere, which I would understand if decay was working properly, but it is not according to Ohana (see above).  The second thing that frustrates me is that these buildings are nine months old (Niarja shows this deed to have disbanded in March 2015).   What does it do to the economy when someone can build a high QL large sized donut house that won't go away for over a year without needing to pay upkeep costs by owning a deed?

I have persued every avenue... asking neighbors, freedom chat on Indi, sending forum and in-game PM's to the deed owner and resident(s) to ask this person to please clean up their trash to no avail.

Any word on this yet?  Still waiting an eternity to be able to start my new deed.

It might not be long for them to wait now but the point of it is that they researched the deed and it had been disbanded for 9 months before they found the spot. That means it took almost a year to decay away that is just crazy that it is so slow and in my opinion needs to be fixed.

I don't know how long the accelerated decay has been bugged and turned off but we for sure need it fixed. I can understand Rolf wanting to have slowish decay for off deed players but there needs to be some balance to things too. The spot i am in only has 20-25ql stuff and it is decaying at a very slow pace too so i expect my wait to be over 6 months on them to decay.  It has already been over two months and they are just now at 20% damage so unless something is fixed/changed it will be a very long wait.

I wish that were the case, but I still have multiple wall sections at only 74 damage.

I'm waiting on the decay of a house too. It's fully in the perimeter of my (alts) deed. It disbanded 2015-10-23 (nearly 2 months ago). The building to decay i'm waiting for has for the most part QL ~12-20 and most decay right now is ~30 damage. That means i still have to wait an eternity for it to decay. IMO houses should be gone after like 3 months of a deed disbanding at the latest.

I am guessing the reason that accelerated decay was turned off has something to do with bridges? If so then they should be kept separate from houses and make them decay at their own rate so they can be adjusted when needed and not interfere with each other.

Also i think there should be an accelerated rate of decay added in as the wall decays if there is not already. The decay would be slow at first then once it hits 10 damage there is extra decay added in and then even more for every 10 damage it takes after that so that by the end it is taking a lot more decay then it was to begin with.

Deed Fell in march of this year has been covered my perimeter for 2 months now these are the average decay ticks i stopped tracking after the first month. On average a daily decay hit was .001  QL=75.808044, dam=87.77438 Yesterday QL=75.808044, dam=87.76437  the day before... QL=75.808044, dam=87.75434  it will take 12+ months for this Deed to completely fall.

If that's accurate, it implies that accelerated decay hasn't simply been disabled.  Even for a non-abandoned stone house wall, that's abnormally low damage from decay ticks (Those damage differences are showing less than 1/30 the expected damage per tick for a non-abandoned stone house wall.).  Looking at the values, they also don't seem to fit the formula for normal QL-based decay.  Normal QL-based decay is normally used for non-abandoned house walls, but not for accelerated decay due to abandonment/perimeter.  It's possible the formula used for accelerated decay was just altered to do drastically less damage for now, but so low that it's actually much lower than regular non-abandoned decay normally is.

decay seems fine on wooden walls, they need regular upkeep or they go poof in less than 2 months right now, seems to be different though for unfinished plans, one complete wall lasts for months

stone and timberframe is a different matter, stone decay seems to crawl for some time now and high quality stone walls its barely noticible, same goes for unfinished stone wall plans, i have noticed a fairly big structure with just one brick in it last for 7-9 months now

No wood decays pretty slow too. I wait on a wooden building and decay on a QL 24 wall was like 11 so far since nearly 2 months. Thats not acceptable.

IMO decay of off-deed or perimeter buildings should depend on whether the owner of the building has logged in recently or not. The longer the owner is missing the faster decay should be. Prolly 1 month decay like now but when the owner is gone for more than a month accelerated decay should kick in and after 3 months. Or walls should get bashable/destroyable with catapult once the owner hasn't logged in for 3months+. Or both.

This would satisfy the need for off deed buildings not decaying too fast for players that actually play but also help those that are waiting for stuff to finally decay when the previous player isn't playing anymore.

It would be helpful if on examine you could see who the owner was sometimes and then possible ask the owner to poof the building.  I know that is not always the choice but could be helpful until this is resolved.

Are you entering the building often? I thought buildings frequently used had a slower rate of decay.

In my case some are entered to check the dmg on certain walls is required we also believe that the owner is active as we have heard that they currently reside on a New deed so if it is the same person they are active which might be slowing the decay but have yet to be able to reach them through pm's.  All buildings are made of stone and are decent ql the numbers I listed above are from a single window that has been used to track the damage that one is currently at 91 but as Wargasm stated also others are still at 74 damage. Those with less damage can be examimanded from the out side.

I don't think walking/using the house has anything to do with it as you seen in my post the slow decay is also happening with fences too.

Edit: An update on the decay 12/17/2015 (also added to the op)

  • Iron fence - [10:12:18] QL=23.733019, dam=20.6162
  • Stone house - [10:12:49] QL=20.948292, dam=23.994276

[11:41:25] QL=64.43831, dam=0.0 wood wall

here one of the stone walls I have been monitoring on a daily basis, will post each day it sits in perimeter

fences don't bother me much, unless it is on one of your deeds managed by a non-prem alt, there is no way to catapult these fences and bashing is very slow work to make it impractical to destroy dozens of sections
