2) Oh look - 'massive MR raid party' just entered our territory, we can tell this without even getting them in local due to our info minister being online nearly 24/7 and in some cases ran on dedicated servers relaying event log to twitter - one of our deeds is going to get hit - let's locate them and load up alts at our deeds to see which one it is.

3) Oh whoops we didn't have an alt at XYZDeed that noone even lives at in the middle of nowhere, that shows how much we care about it, but good thing we have a twittter bot that goes off it's face sending emails and text messages the moment any deed is tripped

4) Due to misuse of /vinvite and karma teleport the entire kingdom is up in the enemies face almost immedietly and the raid is already pretty much over and everyone goes home.

5) Add random catapulting bugs with 60 story houses etc

 

None of the above creates PvP, it just creates a battle of brick spamming vs catapult spamming.

 

What happened to logging in in the middle of a raid and being surprised, or laying siege to an inactive deed for weeks before anyone notices.

 

 

Haven't even touched blocker deeds, tower capturing or players stacking 50 different meditation/sorcery buffs ontop of each other able to soak up the damage of a M1A2 Abrams.

Yeah I remember the first major raid on valhalla and saroman logged in with an almost full supreme/rare scaleset and dropped a turd in his pants haha!

You are also bringing up multi issues that game has taken its path on. At this point in time a full wipe with new gsme mechanics are needed. But thats not going to happen. The metagamers are the ones who take advantage. I am not online all the time with a bot to relay info unlike some others. Not you.  The epeeners are the ones to start the metagaming BS like hiroi pretending to be kicked from JK only to join us so he can rob some rare and supreme items. So if you want a finger to point at either point it at a mirror or directly towards where this all started and was allowed to happen. 

 

And for the informer system. None of you who want it gone see the point of balance. Its not a metagame if real BALANCE was implemented.  Guard towers at this time server for nothing. If guards were to become neutral of not defended or if the kingdom they belong tondoes not travel the area they could become neutral not relaying any info. If you can bypass the guards again no msg relayed. Perhaps if they are killed fast enough as well. There can be many ways to stop the relay of info with the right balance. But at the same time if attackers dont want to put in effort well then they will be seen. 

 

Long ago running around the enemies deed with 5 guys was unheard of. There was more to sieging and attacks were planned. Today since its easy street hardly any planning goes in anymore the only planning there is today is "lets attack when no one is on". 

 

The game needs content and BALANCE. Or else it will just get dull.

adding more pve doesnt help pvp balance

 

"hey can we go roam jk lands?  im bored"  "sure, go kill those 5 guards super fast, then repeat at the next 10 towers or you'll be caught and they will be prepared and come chasing"

+1 to removing this.

 

I do wonder what it would be like if the PVP servers weren't able to link village feeds to twitter, but that's probably a distant hope.

even when both major factions actually agree on a balance change it doesn't get implemented

-1  it needs fixed, not removed

 

they just added a new onscreen pop-up, this could easily be utilized to instead of event logs... this would render the bots reading event window useless

 

if ALL these kingdom titles utilized this onscreen pop-up and no event log, the meta bots would think all is well because nobody is watching the screen on those, and towers would be poofing left and right, raiding all night with no meta warning... i've been complaining about this since day 1 on wurm, and nobody cared until this was fixed, good idea MR this hurts you more than most so lets finally get this meta issue fixed, but if its going to be fixed, it better be fixed for EVERYTHING, tower bashing, enemy entering influence, and also deed alarms.

 

perhaps changing this to "kingdom name" has made their presence known in our lands, instead of "player name" ?  to prevent locate spamming.

If this was utilized as intended and not via meta bot, it would greatly help balance kingdoms with smaller influences, currently even if EMR uses this on a meta bot... they wont be able to find you without locate spamming, but a smaller kingdom would probably be able to find you in local fairly quick and this is why they want it removed... 

 

REMOVE THE META, NOT THE FEATURE!

Lol, you've already forgotten what I've already said in another thread. Any notification can be picked up on by any half decent programmer and still be within the rules. Just remove it. Much easier

How about some means of counter intelligence?

 

Say occasional fake warnings?

 

Or means of concealing infiltration that are not 100% successful.

 

Basically instead of removing a feature, expand it into a smaller game within the larger game.

 

EDIT: For that matter tie success chances to some skill or stat to help deal with some low level surveillance alt.

just remove the player name, and event logs! simple meta problem solved, this notification would be amazing if it didnt include a player name

but renders pvp pointless with the current meta bot situation.

even if you can't read the logs, you could just use OCR to accomplish the exact same thing (the same thing people use for doing certain things we're not allowed to talk about that start with the letter M)

How do i tower bash? Those pesky EMR put towers all around HOTA and now whenever we go they are notified of our large 20 man force. We cannot cap the towers because they put a deed within 100 tiles of it as well. 

 

Speaking of, why arent we allowed to conquer towers within 100 tiles of a deed? that is just plain silly.
